Why should I, or the rest or us subsidise your dream! Just because you leech on the system. Get a life and pay your way!!!

oh dear.

what "system" is this?, the vastly over priced magazine "system"?(whatever you interpret that too mean) i save a few quid each month reading a magazine in a paper shop, shoot me now, but before you do so, tell me that you have never tried to get something for nothing? never taken advantage of someone elses misfortune such as realising a shopkeeper has not charged you for an item and failing to return and explain their error. Is it not the same thing?

i do not leech the "system". nor do you have to subsidise my dream and buy all the magazines, you can simply read them like i do in the store. perhaps the publishers will lower the price in due course.

when i have my radical you can come and have a look but please dont stand too close to it.

I miss Den, there are so few people these days that will stand up for what they believe in and try, in some way, to stamp on the wrong.

Isn't there a saying that "All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing" ? At least Den was doing something about it which is I guess mnore than most of us.
Hear, hear Busa.
I know it's difficult on this forum to take sides when everything is either hearsay or substantiated only by quite difficult to trace evidence. So for what it's worth I am completely behind Den as he attempts to restrict the Kitcar press to publishing facts.
Thanks for your time

I'm sorry if I have offended you by my comments, But if everyone bought their desired magazines rather than reading them in the newsagents, publishers would cover their costs more easily and not have to create the "vastly over priced magazine "system""
The same principle applies to most things. If the 12million motorists who flaunt the law, bought insurance, The premiums of those of us who do cough up would be lower.

Obviously we don't need kitcarman here for a thread on the kit car forum to degenerate into bickering!

Personally, I'm with Mr.Purple on the mag thing! Maybe if some of you buggers actually paid for them the prices might not be so high for the rest of us who actually buy them! And we might actually be able to get near the shelves in WH Smiths.

I'm with you there, but it does get a bit tedious when it starts to hijack every thread.

Chris B.
Nice analogy with insurance, I'm with you.

From my standpoint it only really gets out of hand because people inflame Den by contradicting and criticising despite not having any real knowledge of the reality of his situation.

I might be wrong though

Hi Phil
The problem is that both Den and I come from a generation that speaks up against things that we find morally unacceptable. I can't speak for Den, but if I feel that if something is wrong, I say so, Please or Offend. Here endeth todays Rant!!
Cheers Chris

Are you sugesting we should just accept all of what Den says regardless?......

I doubt very much if thats what he would want especially considering he's openly called for bedate so that he could clear the air.

I'd hate to see him leave on a low, and hope he returns as the mellow Den we have seen posting on here.

Whats not possitive is it all being dragged up in one mag (WK) as soon as it has been dropped for the other........ I can't personnelly see how this will help the Kit car industry.

Hi Andy,
No that's not what I meant, but a lot of pople have criticised him for what they see as a witch-hunt. I certainly don't think that a lot of those people have taken the time to find out much of the background. I have no problem with people not wanting to waste their time doing that, but no-one should enter the debate without some research.

My my haven't you boys been busy. I go away for a day and find this lot. Must say I agree with ferg and andycanam. We can't just accept what den says at face value all the time but before jumping in to the fray with both feet and all guns blazing as some have done in the past take a moment to play devils advocate try and see both sides and maybe do a bit of research perhaps then we would see a more chilled forum with reasonable debate not just a slanging match involoving as someone said previously "playground antics"

I take some responsibility as was I think the first to blow up at Den having ditched one forum to get away. Jesus he didn't stop then!

I like news and documentries, not Eastenders.

Unfortunately once the news degenerated to a panto farce witch hunt I became numb to 'the news' and eventually lost all the sympathy and goodwill that had been built up.

I don't think anyone doubts DT's good intentions, though the idealogical indoctrination through every means, especially the hijacking of threads was a pursuit even the best thought police in the world would have thought was excessive.

It takes a very very good journo to unemotionally report the facts without suffering the political, monetary, ethical pressures around him. Unfortunately DT isn't a gifted journo and should employ some one who is and leave any legal implications to the authorities.

Haven't we seen all this recently in a much bigger profile? Even the professionals get it wrong. (But that's another thread/link/arguement)

Personally, I have never done the "Read it in the Newsagents" thing.

I prefer to read magazines at home with a cuppa, on the train, or on a plane.

Without some old dear who has a blue rinse and stinks of wee asking you what shelf "Which Zimmer?" is on....

I do wonder at times if Den just rubs everyone up the wrong way a bit too much. This is a paragraph from the latest 'Westfield World' members mag.
Quote' I am delighted that Holly has come along to represent Westfield Sportscars Ltd- she heard what a great do Richard (Smith)last year and has pulled rank on him.Westfield and the club have worked together even more closely this year.We have faced the Den Tanner troubles with a united front and Richard has offered us great support on the 2004 silhouette regulation'

Must admit to reading a bit of the Den bit on the forum and he was basically bumped off the thread with all vulgarities from all sides. Can't say what for and if I mentioned his name on the Westie forum, would stoke the hornets nest again!!!

Just back to the issue of 'Filby hits back'.

How come you have all seen it? I asked in my local 'Smiths why they hadn't got WK? yet. When we (assistant and me) looked in last months for the March issue release date it said FRI 21 FEB 2004 Correct me if I'm wrong but that date doesn't even exist.

So how do you get hold of this March issue as it seems it will never be available?

Re Den

I have a lot of respect for him. He has a vast array of knowledge and expertise and is most certainly an asset to this site. (IMHO)

I do not agree with him all the time and have on numerous occasions told him this.

My point is (as Andycanam and Ferg have pointed out) without debating isssues, hearing both sides and being able to form your own opinions we would believe everything that is put in front of us.

Without Den, who else can offer these issues to debate?

That happened once before last year.... incorrect (and non-existant) date printed for "Next Month's" issue.... also, in the same issue, the Issue Month on the front of the mag was wrong, but was cleverly corrected by sticking a white computer printed label over the top of it.... lovely.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything Mark says there.

OK, Den is in the business of publishing magazines, but he is publishing magazines about a topic that he has a superlative knowledge of, and an enormous passion for.

When (it will happen eventually!) I get around to starting my project, I would like to class Den as one of the people I could contact for advice, and send photo's to for constructive criticism and feedback.

Again, there have been issues that I haven't agreed with Den on, but I don't feel that is any reason to shoot him down.

It's the second time on the trot that they have got the release date printed in the mag wrong.

February's issue (from memory) was due out in 21 Dec 03. I know Cornwall is slow but it didn't arrive here until about 20th Jan 04. (about the time I would have expected it to be out)
