A friend of mine looked at buying a Raffo when they were available, probably back in about '98???
He bought a Cyclone and so did I hence the info.
I recall him telling me that when they were producing the body moulds for the car they "forgot" to allow for the 4x2 packers they'd used on each side of the front wheel arch. Hence to 2" gap in the front wheel arches. Maybe they sorted it, I don't know, but I always liked the lok of the car.

Hi I read below that Raffo Belva had been taken over by Harliquin, has anyone got contact detail for them. having seen a car for sale on E-Bay (Classified Add)for £2000 reg R444 BBB which turned out to be a scam. I would like to get my hands on a kit or car or even the jigs and moulds.

Contact details used to be Mike Philips on 01452 770000. However, it's been a few years since Harlequin took over the Belva and nothing ever seems to have happened so I have no idea if they're still going.

I believe that Ian Stent of Complete Kit Car magazine has the up to date contact details for the project as I was talking to him about the car last month.

You could try giving Ian a call on 01491 628508 and see if he can help.

I think that it was a cracking little car that deserved to succeed.

I believe that there is still a place in the market for individual cars (as we are currently doing well with the Murtaya and Toniq projects), they just need to be thoroughly considered, work well, and the scale of running such an operation needs to be understood by the project owners at the outset as it is not as easy as many seem to think!

Hope this helps.

Neil.

Harlequin do still have the project (as well as the open top Belvetta), but it's not currently in production and won't be marketed any time soon. Shame!

Hi Neil,

I totally agree with you on the Belva, great little sportscar and it would perfectly fit your line up, with a mid-engine sportscar.....

A slight restyling and you have a new sportscar, unique and original in its design, ......give Harlequin a call....!

It would be nice to see it in your stand, at Stoneleigh 2008...........smile

Cheers
Italo

Hi, I tried Mike Philips on 01452 770000 and the lady had no idea what I was talking about or who Mike Philips was, ( I said I wasn't the tax man or vat but she still said she had no idea who Mike was. Anyone got a new number for him or Harliquin?

I dont believe the bins are part of the deal

I like the Belva, if I had the money I'd be tempted by that one

The one thing that really spoils the Belva for me is the front wheel arches, and that shot really shows it! The gap over the wheel is big enough to fit a small family of polish workers into, not good for the sports look.

Yes, Mike Philips of Harlequin Cars has taken over the Raffo Belva. I owned the original prototype and learned through Pistonheads that it had since been crashed! Early this year I acquired Raffo Belva number seven, not as quick as John's Vauxhall Calibra powered protoype but the gul wing doors mean I dont get wet when driving. Fabulous little car which I call my "project" as I plan to improve headlamps and re-design the interior, so often let down in kitcars.
As a musician I showed the car off at the Bath Festival where I was performing a week or two ago a James Bond theme gig and it was a head turner all evening (the car) !
