I appreciate it would mean a bit of a redesign but why would that automatically mean an engine upograde. Surely for a commuter trike you want a small economic engine, not major HP, so why would it end up close to the Tr1ke. Also the Tr1ke as good as it is, it also doesnt have any weather gear.
The added benefit, IMHO, to the burgman engine gearbox package is that it is essentially an autobox so when stuck in traffic as you will invariably be when commuting you are not having to keep dipping and possibly riding the clutch which Im sure a CBR clutch wouldnt take too kindly to.
I may be being a bit Dim here but why would you be going up against some of the best trikes ever designed? Which trikes are you thinking about?
Im not trying to be argumentative just bringing my point of view to the discussion. Yes I do like the Exo-Eco R and can see the benefits, but ...
If it was due a redesign, I have to account for feedback I have had from potential and current owners, of which engine choice has been mentioned, (unfortunately people dont understand the capabilities of such a trike) you are correct about the commuter but in reality owners are buying it for a fun cheap vehicle!! with limited commuter customers! so this was my thinking, (sorry if I went off on a train of thought) then if this route was taken I meant cost wise you would be nearing the Tr1ke and having driven one regardless of weather gear you would want one!The added benefit, IMHO, to the burgman engine gearbox package is that it is essentially an autobox so when stuck in traffic as you will invariably be when commuting you are not having to keep dipping and possibly riding the clutch which Im sure a CBR clutch wouldnt take too kindly to.

Your right the the Burgman fits the bill perfectly, It is very well suited to this vehicle,,
Up against is wrong, sorry i meant price wise again we would not be far of the prices of existing trikes, non in particular, but im big fan of the Tr1ke & Razor,,
So do you think a Eco-Exo-2 would be a hit, 2 seater side by side or tandem? running the burgman set up???
For me personally Yes it would and looking at some of the reactions to the Elio on the forums I have posted it on yes there would be a market. When I showed it to the good lady she was very interested. As to whether it would be a sucess I cant say, It may be worth having an Artists Impression at Stoneleigh to gauge reaction.
I found a forum specifically for reverse trikes and found this which I think looks funky and fits the bill very well just needs some side windows.

with regard to side by side or tandem thats a tricky one I like the idea of a tandem as it keeps it nice and slim and flows nicely abck towards the single rear wheel it would make conversation tricky, however it does give the perfect excuse for not talking to the other half. While side by side is more two person friendly if im going that way I may as well go fo 4 wheels. Again this is all just my opinion.
And if not the Burgman set up then what, this kind of set up does seem to lend itself nicely to a reverse trike arragement. Although having done some hunting they are not the cheapest of donors.

ooops deleted double post
The added benefit of the burgman setup over a regular bike for a commuter vehicle is, as I might have said before is the CVT gearbox. its just rev and go no clutchpedal to worry about when sat in traffic as wou would be in a commute.

Hi All
I am new to this forum but quite a few regulars hang out here so I thought I would post the Eco Exo R I built. When I first saw one that Scott built I knew this was the one for me. I wanted side cases so that started moving the radiator to the front. After that I did a couple other changes to fit my needs. Hope you like my interpretation of the design.

Thanks Qdos and Steffan
It turned out better than expected. There are still some details I need to attend to but it is almost ready for the inspection.

Every time I finish a kit car currently (five a year at the moment) I have umpteen details to attend to. Over the years I have developed contacts with all the local kit car manufacturers who variously make of supply bits that I need and can offer pressing work, fabrication work etc. A a result I have a number of individuals who I can call on to give the completed car a look over and I do regularly. It turned out better than expected. There are still some details I need to attend to but it is almost ready for the inspection.

Primary advantage of being a Chartered Accountant, now retired happily, is that over time you meet a lot of business people and I have always liked mechanical engineering as businesses. No money in it atvall, as most operators find, but I admire the creativity and energy and attention to detail those operations require. Some of the fabrications I have seen made have been quite beautiful in their symmetry and simplicity.
All the knowledge I have gained from thse contacts cost me not a lot because everyone in business needs an undertanding accountant. This has enabled me to follow my hobby of some 50++ years and I thoroughly enjoy it. I still get stumped regularly but my contacts can always resolve the conundrum having seen such problems many times before!

I needed to put the radiator in front to fit the side cases. So this has a lot of modifications done to it to make everything work correctly.
I also kind of wanted a formula front end look verses the stock look and think I pulled it off.
Balance is the key but it sure takes a lot of time and trial and error to get to that point.
This probably would push the cost past what Scott feels is the sweet spot so I do not see him pursuing in this redesign.
It is something I wanted in my retirement vehicle so I put my sweat & equity into overdrive to get where I am now.
