Cashy,
If your looking for a westy, best places are pistonheads, auto trader and the westfield factory site. I picked mine up through autotrader, it only had done 2000 miles, so no buying worries
Cheers
Mike
P.S. There was a green megabird for sale on auto trader, don't know whether it's still there or not
Hi Numptie.
Car looks good - saw your posting on WSCC forum
Ditching reverse box is a fine and good plan. As Mike said, it's not too difficult to do, and I produced a word doc with a load of info on how to do it. Drop me an email and I can forward it to you, or if you are on the Yahoo BEC list you'll find it in the files section there.
Happy BECing

Looks very very nice, and a nice build too. What's with the noncy mats though - must add at least 1Kg!
And yes, I'd ditch the reverse box too. With a minor bit of pre-fabrication, I managed to get a 2-piece prop made up while I waited from a place in Hillington, Glasgow. Made the drive much smoother. You might find that you get variable levels of vibration through the drivetrain between uses of reverse as any minor out-of-balances in the front and back props get put in and out of sync.
Providing you've got the standard westfield reverser, of you bolt a flat dural plate onto the 4 mounts that support the gearbox at the bottom, a ford transit center bearing is EXACTLY the right height bolted on the plate to align a 2-piece prop. The bloke I used in glasgow re-used the rear section from the original prop and just added a new front section. About £120 I think.
Anyway, looks a great car. Hope you have fun. Don't think I'll venture up on Saturday though as with nothing viable to drive it would just depress me too much

Got to be one of the nicest colours I have seen on a blade cept yellow of course hehehe
Im just dropping my vote in FOR the reverse, mine is a standard westfield item, and (although it spits oil) has no vibration (don’t ask me why, I didn’t build it) All who have been in it also agreed, it was pretty quiet.
Maybe I got a lucky one? (always plays on my mind though that one day it may cause trouble, so would attempt moomins bracket, and look for a leky reverse)
Hope to bump intto you at track days to see it in the flesh have fun with it!
