Please give me some feedback on this: www.5exi.741.com

The costs page needs sorting more at the moment. The invoices from Marlin are a little different than my costs (a matter of 10's of £) and it is obviously not final.

OK... couple of quick points....

When you use hyperlinks (as with the links to PH and MadAbout) probably better to open a fresh window rather than just jump to the new page. Some websites have a habit of preventing the "back" button from working, and hence users can't get back to your site.

Also, I always find blue text on a black background difficult to read.

Whilst talking text.... Times New Roman is the worst font in the world!

And finally....

Perhaps the "Which Kit" part should be titled "Which kit" (ie no capital on the "K").... There was me thinking that a certain magazine were about to build your car for you

All intended as constructive criticism Mark, please don't take offence!

Keep up the good work on the car, and the site!

Great effort Mark,
No technical advice to offer as I'm hopeless, except it would be nice to have a link to each page all pages to save going home each time?

Wish I had done the same except that Mrs Aprisa has web access so the costs page would have to go!

So many pop-ups I thought I was on a porn site! And it keeps trying to install add-ins, not nice.

dns error the first time I tried to access the page, but it's ok now.

Criticisms are minor and, I hope, constructive :

Titled documents look 'smarter' than getting 'Untitled document' on the Taskbar.

Blue and purple links are not all that clear on the black background.

Having the menu on each page, rather than having to go back to the homepage each time, would make navigation quicker.

A link to Marlin's site might be a thought ?

The pop-up blocker's not showing any pop-ups blocked and the malware blocker's not showing any malware blocked.
Anyone else having problems ?

Why would you think that? Unless you're speaking from experience of the aforementioned genre of websites...

How do I do the hyperlinks so they open in a new page?

No blue - ok

Didn't realise the text was Times New Roman.

Title will be 'Which kit do I buy?' or similar.

No offence. I would have been more offended not to get critism, after all I'm not a web designer!

Sorry, it's a free site and easy to use (from my point of view). Hope it doesn't offend too many.
So you get pop-ups on porn sites do you?

I will be adding more links. Needed these to navigate the site.

I addressed these in last post

This will be done along with lots of other stuff.

Give me a little time though, I've got to build a car and do a build diary too. And keep the missus happy!

I see what people mean with the pop-ups. I don't get them at home due to my firewall, but got hit by a fair few while looking at site just.

BTW I got 52 visitors and over 200 hits today.

I think meeja addressed all the same points as I did - I'd missed his post somehow

To open your links in a new window add a target="_blank" attribute to your link tag:

<---!A HREF="/ads" target="_blank">
Link to classifieds</A>

Lose the ---! inserted to make it show up

btw: 17-42 Monday, dns error again.

Agree with whats said here but would just like to point out that PH and Madabout don't prevent the use of the back button.

Mark, just a thought buy why not register (for only a few quid - hide it into the build cost) a domain all of your own from the likes of hosting-unlimited or some such cheapy - very good package for £30 for a year which will include the domain name.

Just done a quick check and the following are available

www.5exi.info/net/org
www.my5exi.(all)

etc - you get the picture

John

Registering a domain might be an option. At the moment this is the first time I've ever got anything like a website posted. I knew nothing about it until a few months ago and spent quite some time trying to find a free hosting site that I could use.

Anyway I've done some of the changes and added a bit more.

I will have to look more into creating links that open seperate pages, but thanks for the info.

All feedback is good feedback whether I like it or not.

John,

I realise that neither your site or PH disable the back button, but I envisage that Mark will link to more sites as he develops the site (along with the car!).... and best to set a protocol for linking to other sites.

To be fair to Ex-Biker, by his own admission he is not a web designer, so launching your own pages is a bit daunting.... but to then unleash them onto a critical public must take guts!

What may be a simple bit of HTML to some, is probably like reading 3rd century Latin to others!
