While I would love to scan and post on the ‘world wide web’ for all to see, the magazine articles on MEV, I must have respect for the considerable effort and work as well as the financial issues that go into producing one of the UK’s top Kit Car magazines.
Not to mention the small matter of copyright theft.

I'm just hoping there will be a copy left in my local newsagent when I finally get back to the UK. Five pages is quite a lot of coverage for one car, should be a good read.

I've searched 3 newsagents today to try and get the magazine. Nearest stockist seems to be nearly an hour from me. Anyone wanna give me the lowdown on the article cause I'm very interested in this kit.

Thanks for the reply. I'd discovered that yesterday but I dont fancy taking a couple of hours out just to track down a magazine.

WH Smith does have them. I picked mine up today.

Looks more like an issue of The Complete MEV Kit Car - in addition to the 5 page Exocet article there is the 2 page MEV meeting coverage and various other photos in addition to the adverts and the letter to the editor.

Overall looks good.

Had hoped for an answer to the question about the Exocet needing an IVA or not.

That's all a question of interpretation of rules, and who is doing the interpretation.

MEV advice is to get an IVA, which will improve the resale value, and eliminate worry as to legality, and possible future problems. As soon as a few MOT stations get done for testing cars which are evidently not what the registration says they are, then I expect it will be even more difficult to get away with 'interpreting the rules' in favour of not needing an IVA.

I'd suggest that without an IVA it would actually be breaking the law, since the PPF really won't class as a chassis unless you find a very lenient police person.

Seeing as the Exocet is marketed as having an 'Exo-skeletal chassis', this would probably stand up as being a new chassis.

Not to mention the fact an IVA would be a safer option to double-check it's all fine, and besides it costs just over £200 (AFAIK) so that doesn't really affect the build cost enough to worry about!

It'd be interesting to know if the kit fully complies with the IVA, I'd assume so!

For an amateur entrant, £450 and £90 for a retest

I am sure it does, but the IVA fails will be to do with builder mistakes rather than the manufacturer's construction.

Damn, I thought it was cheaper... Hmm. Still, £450 to show you've done the job right, and legally is better than a fine and whatever else would come of not doing it!

I'd love to see longer/more videos of the Exocet - did you get any in car video?

Also, I'm curious how this kit compares with the generic 7-style roadster in dimensions - length, width, body height etc...

Hi, the chassis is 3.2m x 1.4m The Exocet balance is perfect at 50% on front and rear with a driver and half a tank. This is achieved by pushing the engine forward over the front axle and limiting tail happy behaviour. We also lowered the MX5 set up by 30mm and moved the tank back a little so you can get in it! If your over 6 feet tall that is. Nice wide cockpit. Good view over the bonnet, loads of room for your feet without pressing 2 pedals at a time, unless you are heel/toeing, nice comfy seats from the MX5,(water proof covers recommended) recline adjustable and built in speakers!
IVA pre inspection went very well with no issues thrown up.
24 Exocet kits going out b4 xmas, orders now being taken for Jan 31st collection. Exocet is regrettably only available to the U.K as demand is very high and we cater for the U.K as a priority.
Nose cone option available in Jan too (smaller grille hole).
Bolt on MSA spec roll bar (4 point harness)now available to special order at £250
Colours options are blue/green/red/orange/black/white/yellow.
Turbo kits fit under the bonnet if you fancy 250bhp for $399 from ebay.
Have a good weekend everyone, regards Stiggy

Thanks for the info Stiggy, that's ace smile
I did get a chance to check it out at the Exeter show last weekend, though sadly it was only a brief look before I was dragged elsewhere by the other half!
We're both impressed with it's look - in my opinion it looks much nicer in the flesh than the web images suggest, especially as scale is easier to notice.

I'm still very tempted with the 'build-your-own' style haynes roadster, but the Exocet is also very high up there - a battle between the two, that'll probably go on for until I get the funds to start!

G'day from Oz,

I think the Exocet is a brilliant idea. I'm looking for a track car and this fits the bill. I've already built a AC Cobra replica and all the trouble you encounter building them. Using a MX5 donor and a chassis where everything bolts in just makes so much sense.

When is MEV going to start selling these to the rest of the world?!?

I think there is a distributer in Perth, which is on the west coast of Oz but that's 5,000 odd km from the east coast where I am. frown

When tim e permits I'd like to see the roll bar option that's been mentioned.

NA's start at about $5,000 in Oz, nowhere near as cheap as the UK unfortunately frown That's why I like the affordability of the exocet!

Ponders if there's a market for Cobra to set up his own business making and selling licensed copies. The ExOZet... scratchchin
