Now here's a kit that excites me - but I'm a 70s child.

I still want one but that sort of figure puts it well outside of my "nice to have" car threshold frown

Maybe one day...

For those that are interest it is £10k for the rolling chassis however this does not include things like 'glass' etc.

For a 'complete kit' less engine and trans etc, you are looking at an additional £20k's worth of parts from SHP, note that both of these prices do NOT include VAT!!!

Looking through the parts list there are some things that you may feasibly be able to substitute or find at a lower price however SHP has stated that quite a few things are bespoke and so may be hard to make work since you can't rob bits of a genuine Mk1.

Allegedly it's 650-675kg in certain configurations!

Still, I *LOVE* it.
Bloody hell that makes it expensive - £36k and then you need an engine and box. Ouch. That's a £45-50k build.

Ultima territory. Well, not a far hike to and, much as this is cool, I know which I'd go for.

To correct myself, that actually includes the gearbox and quite a few things engine related such as exhaust and dry sump ancillaries (I'm guessing presuming that you choose one of the common engines that they list).

It would largely be the engine that wasn't included.

For £10k inc VAT I think they'd have people beating down the doors frown

Yes, if you Google around around for Sonny/SHP there is a lot of praise! £10k and this would have been killer though.

Still better value than most original basic Escorts. At least you are getting some proper engineering for your money.
