What's a BOB engine?
The BOB is the second version of the Cosworth modified Cologne V6. The BOA was the first. The other issue is that nearly all the scorpios were automatics so sourcing the gearbox is an adventure. One way is to build a hybrid MT75 gearbox from several models, you need a seirra xr4 4x4 one to give you the correct V6 bellhousing bolt pattern and a manual box from a rearwheel drive car to replace the 4x4 part. You can also replace the 5th gear with one from a transit box to give higher 5th gear if you really want to. ( hence me having three MT75's in my spares hoard.....)
I floated the idea of a "sticky wiki" with Big Al and he has fixed this thread so that we don't loose it and is also working on a wiki project list. If you have any thoughts on how this should look/work either post here or PM him.
Just looked at the Yahoo pre-80's TVR group and there are some nice photo albums posted there but a bit light on commentary- or is it just me?!.

Guys after getting a mail from Graham (oldgeebee) he asked if it was possible to set up a Classic Build wiki.
Well I've had a play and come up with this
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
It's only a stab in the dark (from my POV) as to what you might need, but at least it's a starting point.
Let me have any suggestions, alterations, additions etc.

btw, what car has a better basis to do a V8 conversion in when you think of powers of say 400hp
a 3000M or the "later" Taimar...and does it make difference what type you choose for teh conversion?
I mean you can take a 1600 or 2500 or a 3000 V6 etc.
As I understand it, (thanks to Adrian) the later M chassis has more distance across the top engine bay frame tubes. The header tubes coming from the rear exhaust ports are very tight, so even an additional 1/8" on either side is a benefit. Unfortunately, I don't know what the chassis number cut off is for old/new. a 3000M or the "later" Taimar...and does it make difference what type you choose for teh conversion?

Also, Having gone this far into my build, I would seriously consider a 351 Windsor, if I had to do it again. With the correct high exhaust port cylinder heads, you could just squeak past the frame with upturned headers, and get to 408 cubic inches with a stroker kit. That's +600HP. The added weight over a short deck height Windsor motor is negligible.
Best,
B.
