Hello,
Good choice.
The car is a good convertible, possible to run without side screens and completely remove the rag top.

It will leak - its almost impossible to get the car water tight. Most owners I know accept that as proably the cars only "fault".

Side screens are difficult to get hold of, windscreen can be a pain if it needs replacing.

Enjoy smile

Hi there,
definitely a good choice! I am in the process of restoring my 1979 3000S which I have owned since 1980. I've got to the stage of stripping the chassis - see my blog (link is in the ongoing projects wiki).
I can confirm the above comments (windscreen and side screens on mine are both kaput) but would add that the Essex engine makes up for it and I was always impressed with the handling.
Posting pictures when you have it is mandatory!
Welcome to the club.

I bought my S in 02, rebuilt it & then hillclimbed it for a couple of years.
I did sell it to buy a Griff, but missed it so much I bought it back 2 years later.

It now has chassis by Adrian Venn, engine by John Wade, T5 'box, AP brakes Toyo 888's and is FUN!

It gets to 9 or 10 hillclimbs & sprints a year all over the country, driven to & from events.

Good cars.

Hi If you are picking it up from Steve Reid on Sunday, are you taking it back on the ferry from Hull?

I live about 8 miles from Hull, and you will be almost passing my house. You are welcome to call & have a look at my car if you have the time.

You would be surprised how heavy these cars are, took 3 of us to lift it onto the pickup!!

Rudy, I had just done oil change and filter, plugs, leads, new antifreeze, valve clearances etc. Drivers side footwell carpet in boot but unfortunatly not the heater box, I think in your excitement of the test drive and finally getting it on your truck I think we forgot to put in it your cab. I,ll keep it safe for you. Glad you got back with car OK and hope you enjoy it (when the weather improves).
