Sender for AC temperature gauge
Discussion
Discussion goes on and new / better solutions suggested.
1)
The bulb of the sender gets water through the 9mm hole in the adapter . Not free flow as in the block but "hopefully" enough to give the right indication of the temperature. (Testing this week)
2)
The more sophisticated design with an external tube I was looking for too. But have not used it because the problem with the thread and because where to put it in the system?. After the outlet on top of the block? But what if the thermostat valve does not open correctly at 92 degree?
3)
The suggestion of drilling a wider hole in the block and tap the correct nobody reacted. But for sure you need enough depth for the long bulb. I refilled my system so good not measure the depth of the water channel.
But with so many good ideas more Vixen fans can use the best solution. Authentic or modern whatever they like.

Thanx for info.
It came out the gauge is not working properly.
Open it and all looks as new. Only one thread looks thin???
Next week will have it checked/repaired. Can wait for the diagnose.
Prospect is the costs are higher than new one, but where to buy original.
Vixen runs fine without overheating.
Fan springs in after some minutes after stopping.
To be continued.

All is well so end is well.
Had an appropriate fitted sender placed in the block (dimension as original Escort) and the gauge tuned in relation to that sender (or visa versa).
So nice fitting and working temperature gauge.
Should have done that from start, but unknown with this made me blind.

I know its an old thread but I am searching for one of these senders , this is what I have found.
The thread is 5/8UNF and its also fitted to a Massey Ferguson Tractor
The question is has anyone tested the AC type sender Part No 7966195 to see what Ohms it is when cold , so that I can check any that I find?
Thanks
Terry

Info below may be of help to others ...
Today I wanted to test my Vixen temp gauge working ok prior to dash put in place. Carried out a bench test with Gauge, 12v battery & a Decade box.
Results..
40 deg C on gauge ..... 200 Ohms
80 deg C on gauge ....... 95hms
110 degC on gauge ....... 50 Ohms
Cheers. Ian

Thread resurrection special: Does anyone know what these AC gauges were actually fitted to originally? Looking around there's no Vauxhall or Bedford that I can see that has one on the dash !!!
The 1/8" bsp thread one seems to be the green topped vauxhall che(vette/vanne/znous) but finding one for the V6 is proving impossible.
