I'm still keeping an eye out for cars for sale, but it seems that as we approach winter the market is going quiet for both buyers and sellers, however I did come across this blog page which has pics of the green Taimar on sale on various sites and couldn't resist sharing it : http://hooniverse.com/2011/03/15/streetwalker-boot...

Well, I'm in the UK (York) until Friday and had been hoping to go and look at some cars within reasonable distance, but it seems the only ones on the market right now are either needing restoration or are out of my price range. It really seems like it's the wrong time of year to be looking for a car ... shame, as I've got 5 grand burning a hole in my pocket, and I've finally got over the (not minor) obstacle of announcing to my better half that I intend to further crowd the driveway with a new acquisition at some point.
I know of several M series cars which are unfortunately too far away for me to be able to travel to see them this week. In the north of England as far as I'm aware there is a silver Taimar in Wigan at £7995, and a 3000M in white with a brown stripe in Huddersfield which is up for £7995 too. Concerning this last car, I think someone mentioned that the seller wants £7.3K but there are some bits needing doing such as one of the doors is dropping and the clutch being very stiff. I don't want to waste his time or potentially offend him by putting in a low offer. Does anyone know if the owner of this car is on these forums? And does anyone know of any other cars on the market which would be within my budget (and are roadworthy with an MOT)?
And DakotaStorm, if you are reading this, let me know if you get fed up with your new acquisition and want to sell!

Thanks very much for the tip, I'll get in touch. I've been checking that web site religiously every day for weeks, and just when I stop checking an ad is posted!

No no, I am still at the stage of making a parts list for all the new bits, bobs and jobs I want to do! good luck with your search I hope you find want you want without having to spend a ridiculous amount, if the cars not moving then there may be no harm in a cheeky offer, worse they can say is no and you have lost nothing!

just came across this thread and maybe I found a car for you, this morning I came across it as a new ad on mobile, cheap but needs some work, although the chassis looks good and its in Germany. said: Der TVR hat eine gute Substanz.
it doesn't look to bad... http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/tvr-andere-re...

GTRene said: ah...it needs a bit more work than I thought. Considering the spares stockpile, it may still be a decent deal. An asking price is just that. I'm, sure the owner would entertain bids sooner than not have any. Looks like along with a pair of spare Webers, THREE SPARE ENGINES and THREE SPARE TRANSMISSIONS, teflon or carsan bushings are included, most of the bits are there, seller stated no welding is required... Most importantly, it's a nice colour. Best, B.

"restoration project with reasonable base english documents frame in good condition additional to the mounted engine and 4 Speed gear box you get: 3 more Essex engines 3 5Speed gear boxes with different bells some more new and used parts included
front: Spax shocks mounted some parts missing, most of them wearing parts"

"seller stated no welding is required... "
thats more wishfull thinking than reality...the chassis tubes are definately corroded and if the body would be lifted the rot would become visible.
fact is: the car is located in germany it needs a body off restoration, at least a body lift for the outtriggers the spare parts bin is huge interior needs work. the vinyl roof needs work paintwork looks reasonable , maybe could be re-used as it is.
dvla database does not come-up with any details...so no idea when it was exported...
seller says "Auch wenn die Fotos dies suggerieren, es ist nicht damit getan mal eben ein paar Schrauben zu drehen…"
meaning: "even if the pictures connote it as an easy project, its not done by using the spanners for a few weekends...."
which clearly means in germany "its a FULL, COMPLETE restoration object"
