Hi Rob that's interesting have you any pictures of Dads car
I'm Rob's brother. The car is in barn find condition, for one day...

I did a quick snap at the weekend, it's in "the shed" - so not the best picture. wink

From memory the big red switches were wired to the extra fog lights or Kenlowe fans.
I did look at changing them over at one point.

Having said that the car is modified...
This bill goes on for pages... and was over £1k in 1973.

Later Martin Bolsover restyled the car and got Mike Bigland to look at the suspension.
There are a few previous bills for looking at the suspension...

The car was then pictured at Curborough and is in Success Against the Odds.
Dad bought it from Ed Stevens over 30 years ago, due to pressure from Rob.

It was the first TVR in the family - followed by the Grantura 2a, a 3000S prototype, an S1 (280S) and Griffith 500SE.
The Griffith and Tuscan remain.

maybe we can find the others.
I always wondered about the yellow one in the Haynes Museum.

Some of the others turned out to be converted V6 cars wink

Hi Andrew,

Why not gleuing some black vinyl to the body from under the glass rubber further inwards.
Than you cab leave your nice panels on its place. Their fitting looks good so why alter.

This fiddeling is rewarding in the end, when everything is fished.

i follow your works for my own detailing to come (soon ??)

Just a thought (not original but practical).
What do you and others think of leaving the 3 panels out and covering the inside of the body with isolation and vinyl only? Ever seen this and pictures??
And the rear lights cover with a small box.
So when bulbs changing only the box to unscrew and not panels/carpet/floorpanel over petrol tank.

Although I have the OE later type switch on the shelf ...I would revert to the earlier version and latch it directly in place of the split pin on the ratchet and bolted onto the chassis tube in front of the handbrake lever...100% easier than trying to get the later internal version working!

Have CSCC let you in Jon? Can't be Appendix K, so have they relaxed the rules on Swinging Sixties to let modsports cars in?

What rules??
Apart from Classic K class there aren't many rules? The car just has to be in the spirit of cars racing within their relative periods.

What non original chassis, block, head, carb, exhaust, brakes, uprights, transmission? Its silhouette racing and even that isn't period correct

wow, looking very good, glad you did not choose for a different colour for the Edge finish, this way is more unity/ease? in the car.

Hi Andrew,

Nice detailing of the carpets especially under the seats.
I can use that info for my own car.
How do you fix the "standing" carpets in the foot well?
I do not see any fixing?

I am still flattening the body so no pictures of white dust (???) but will be finished this week and back to the pawnshop.
Started cleaning up the wiring on the dashboard and upgrading the earthing of the instrument lightning, routing cabling, adding relais, removal stabilizer etc.

I don't really want to show my carpets after seeing Andrew's. Bit like comparing the flooring in Travel Lodge compared to the Ritz - great job Andrew.
I must admit that trimming the interior wasn't the job I was most excited about!

My strategy was to buy some really good quality carpet with a high wool content because even a well trimmed carpet made of nylon looks cr*p. All I did was make a template out of brown paper and eeked as much carpet as I could out of 3 sqm.To save on expensive carpet I trimmed the footwell walls and under the dash with black vinyl covered felt. If I remember correctly I hand stitched a about 7m of edge binding plus the little footwell pad - very sore fingers at the end of it! I glued the narrow sill strips and transmission tunnel pieces. The rear carpet is help in place by gravity and the footwell carpets have two invisible popper studs each to stop them migrating. I'm pretty sure that all the materials were less than £100.

Bleeded Grantura's brakes and - again - "enoyed the easy access" to rear Brakes cylinders! smile
