Looks like a nice wide wing job. Is it possible to change without removing the engine.
I imagine the shocks are adjustable platforms so you can tune ride height

There are a number of issues which require modification on that sump.
I wouldn't use it without the modifications.

Yes ride height adjustable Alan as for sump no it can be fitted without removing engine i will have the gear box out at the same time so that will help with access.
Its be built to allow removal of starter motor which sometimes is an issue

Strange...the firm that made this sump has been in business for over 50 years and has vast racing, boating history and it's products are more than tested in real world arenas. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Its not a criticism of the product David but an observation regarding the application in which it will be used.
The engines that this sort of sump are usually fitted to are performance applications which are stripped regularly.
I suspect andrews car won't be. As such there are some modifications to make in order to make the sump more suited to a road car application. I also run a baffled 4 trap door sump with windage tray with slightly larger wings than that one and they aren't all the same. There are subtle differences and a number of the detail differences I note with that sump would lead me to make some modifications.

I find it quite sad that Andrew continues to try to make humorous anecdotes seemingly trying to poke fun at the misfortunes of others when he could actually learn something. As a baffled sump with 4 trap doors I am sure it will work perfectly well to limit oil movement keep the pick up covered and prevent surge. I am sure it is being replaced for good reason. I am confident the owner will have many happy hours looking at it from beneath his car lift.

I must pull you up here Neil one thing I never claim to be is an expert hence why I rarely answer questions on here but I am often entertained by some of yours answers.

I tend to ask those I trust rather than the collective audience on forums.

As a self proclaimed expert we see as much of the underside of your car as we do the re cycled pictures of her on track as its not been out often and certainly not reliable.
If your going to promote yourself as a self proclaimed TVR Guru and a successor to one of your racing heroes I think you need some more schooling both on track and in the workshop.

As for looking at the sump when fitted its very hard to do that at 125mph on the autobahn as my cars as you are aware are used and enjoyed and not just by myself and thankfully never let me down where I have not got home.
The Sump for me is more about ground clearance however as I was going to the expense of having it made it made sense to have it baffled as at a future point in its life it way well be used as a track day car with further alterations.

Yes I like a clean smart car and work hard to maintain them at a level that's good but never perfect as they are drivers cars and I not only drive them often and on long trips but others do as well.
Hopefully it shows that these cars treated right are reliable and fun and bring miles of Smiles to not only there owners but others as well.

Lastly I take no delight in the misfortune of others however your like the Lady up the ladder with no underwear its hard not to comment especially as you tend to have an opinion on everyone's projects or problems however elsewhere on other forums your asking you Guru Friend virtually what time you should go to bed.

I trust you get your car sorted and maybe some of the advice you ignore from other Experts should be taken up.

Andrew

Un-called for IMO. Its a small community, why cant we all play nice instead of everything turning into a peeing comp.

These forums are populated by a sensitive group and it takes little for some to withdraw. Sadly it seems, the more knowledgeable, the more sensitive.

Why can't we just let things like this drop or acknowledge the other persons opinion, which may or may not be valid and even stretch out to constructively counter the observation. Ergo we all learn a little on the way.

My mum often said if you cant say anything nice, then best to say nothing. This place has already downsized as a source of good information - and its becoming less useful as time goes by....

Oil Pan Fitted rather happy with the clearance the old one hung down about 1.5 inches below the sway bar now its level with the sway bar.
The Felpro one piece gasket certainly made the job easier especially single handed.
Shame they dont do them for British Ford Engines
A big thank You to Grantura MK1 for filling his suit case when he was coming over they are custom made there in CA
