A final dust down and mirrors fitted and ready to come home just under 2 years from parts car to finished a real credit to all involved adding up there are so many different people that have been involved and once the wheels are changed and a few other bits I will finish the thread with decent photos with a good camera and do a credits list as there are many those reading this a Big Thanks
Now I see her finished kind of glad he wants the T Slots instead despite the extra work

Should be a nice drive home tomorrow and will be nice to follow her and observer her from behind as Graham Ward my RO is coming as driver tomorrow.

Hi Andrew,

I forgot to tell that I find the stands of the car, the way the wheels fill the arches is super.bow
Looking at the 3000m for sale at this moment, all are way high up.
My head fits between the tire and the arch :roll eyes:

So I will come back on you for info when I buy a 3000m or Taimar.

Hans
Hi Hans
Nothing I have done other than listen to the right people fit the right parts and wheel size and tyres so best speak to the experts like Adrian David and others;

Well a long day or it felt that way with the added responsibility that the car is not mine when finished but my Brothers and I guess the stress of making everything right when your spending someones hard earned Beer Tokens and wanting to achieve something special for them.
Just a shame he was not able to get over today however I really don't want his first drive of her to be with the engine set up as it is.

We left at 9.30 and got up there just after 11 and the car was all sitting ready with a cover over her ready to unveil.

She really does look fantastic in the flesh and I really would be proud to own her so taking the principal of if its what I would like then I think he will be happy.

I still have a lot of work still to do despite the pictures I agreed to finish off the interior trim and carpets and there are a few things that have gone back as OE but on my 3000S I have improved or done differently so will have a few days to get that done.

Also the front bumpers they are going to have to come off and the brackets/bolts moved or holes moved as the are just not right they have fitted to match the old bonnet position but they must have been wrong then.

Tracking etc may have been right in the garage when we left but Graham could soon feel that it needs doing again and will need to ask the experts the correct settings.

As the Engine is a complete new rebuild and requires careful running in and added to the fact its a fast road set up the way its been set up its not that easy to drive as they have set it rather rich for running in and the timing is not what it will be finally so think of what your car might be like if it was needing these things sorting I think its going to be one of those late night jobs where I get out at 8 in the evening and drive up and down the M2 for 3 or 4 hours for a couple of evenings without to much traffic to get her run in as when I hand the car over I really want it right and properly tuned.

Here are a few pictures from today from the phone others I will sort off the camera at some point
As you can see the strip is very much a Ghost effect and you really cant appreciate it properly until you stand 10 feet away from the car I know he will be delighted with that personally I wanted no stripe but as I said its not mine.

Just had this link from by brother with the comment no cars here?
Thought some might enjoy what some people do for beer tokens great life if you can get it laugh
At least no one dropped out on this years expedition last years which was diving in the artic under the ice and icebergs and painting under the iceberg and sadly one of the divers lost her life
The beginning you may find a bit boring from about 4 min I love I wish I had the talent to paint like that all that series he has included sand in the paint to create texture as well.
We will have to come up with a painting expedition that includes the cars at some point that would be cool

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F5hm-aFRFc&fe...

Maybe I will get one for doing the car fingers crossed

Rich is not what I believed an engine should be setup to be when running in, rings not bedding in etc, due to bore wash I think.
I believe your wrong there others with the knowledge will hopefully come on and explain as I hate to see information on forums be incorrect.

No reason why timing shouldn't be very close. A little rich is not a bad thing and the essex in modified form gets the benefits of cooling from a little extra fuel.
Thanks that's good to know its not easy driving a modified engine that feels like it wants to rev and really go running rich and in traffic hence why I think the running in process will be done out of towns and without to much traffic however still getting her up and down the rev range and using the engine to slow her down she does sound rather sweet.

Emptied the the car of all the parts left over quite a lot of bits not used as be replaced most things with new that could not have been refurbished so there will be some bits that will hopefully help others keep there cars going once I get round to listing them all

The bigger items are the gear box and another set of T Slots with very good tyres

Firstly front bumpers measured up and off and up to have the brackets moved to get a better it

While I was up there I picked up some cable blocks and a motor bike brake cable to use to replace the old one that went on temporarily at the workshop looks a lot tidier and the blocks wont rust like the old one

Then took off the screws and washers on the wheel arches and fitted the trim and re did with stainless screws and washers

Then fitted the tailgate struts as they could not manage to get the tailgate release to work with them on not sure why all working properly now but still think the support strut might be a good idea as no telling if the steel in the frame is still ok and the right side is pushing out a little so strut that has some adjustment would make sense and somewhere to hang the washing on laugh

Plus added my foam pads to the wheel arches to stop the bonnet marking the wheel arch when closed I fitted them on the 3000s and are great and easy to change when they get scruffy and handy spot to sit tools on when working on the car as they don't slide off wink

Stripped out the seats and the carpets today including the sound matting as I want to renew it all and also dyno mat the tunnel also took off the seat belt holders and drilled out the internal clips as the new belts wont go in as they are a different shap and re fitted with longer screws as the OE ones just went into the trim not the bulk head
All ready and painted ready for the new carpets

Had a few hours this morning and levelled off the foam and fitted the Fat Mat before taking the Vixen off for her MOT

Then changed the steering bulkhead bolts as they had reused the old ones and they looked horrid on the fresh paint and increased the size and larger washers and some sealant just in case all nice and solid now

Then made and fitted the bonnet cable to Rudys Design Thanks mate it the best solution I have seen

will get on with finishing the carpeting tomorrow as it finally arrived when it should have been here yesterday the lady driver arrived at 5.30 and said sorry I did not deliver yesterday but I was tired and went home could not believe it mad Tired I don't think she knows the meaning of the word wink

looking good,
it also will be a lot better with all that other material under the carpets me thinks.
I hope so I know he likes his music so reducing some of the noise from outside will help.
little does he know that once driving a TVR the music is the car but will let him find that out when he drives her laugh
I know some don't like anything under the mats as it gets wet soggy and smelly but hopefully I can eliminate most leaks it wont be stored out in the rain and I suspect she has turned out so well she will end up as a sunny day car rather than the everyday car we set out to create but will wait and see he has never even driven mine so will be interesting wink

Well a less stressful day today finally got the seats fitted right and runners working as they should and finished of some trim items and a first deep clean of all the old trim and really glad we decided to keep the original interior there are a few little bits that show its age but generally the interior is very good and with the new seats and carpets it seems to have worked as so much of the car is new I wanted to keep that element of age that is seen but does not distract from the overall finished car and thankfully its worked as it was my call as at the beginning of the project Phil said it all down to you to decide (thank Bro in other words if it goes tits up its my fault)

So here are todays updates I had put this week in the diary to get these jobs done as I do have a real job really I do honest wink

also fitted my by now trade mark string vests to the foot wells as they really are useful and a few badges including its final home country flag.

I really don't get the 4 screws and washers at the back of the sunroof on the headlining I would have thought they could have done something to cover them in some way but if that's the way they where that's the way they stay I suppose I could polish them hehe

Well had a call from Ireland tonight and the Taimar is being used every day he is there as the Porsche is in having some work done and he is just loving the old girl and using her all the time he says the more he drives her the better the engine gets which is nice to hear his only complaint is the drivers sun visor keeps dropping so a little adjustment when I am over I think

Everywhere he goes he gets asked about the car I suppose its even rarer over there than here just great to see a car done and used make all the effort worthwhile and a good reminder to us all they are for using and abusing I hope that in 15 years time he says I think its time for a refresh rather than opening the garage and saying its still as good as when you did it.
But Glad to see the Family love of cleaning is still there.
