I have just such a hybrid "MT75" in my workshop, its a brand new MCT75 (Mitchell Cotts MT75 gearbox without a bellhousing and a type 9 bolt pattern) if there is type 9 bell to fit your engine, then it fits this !

Its not so much trying to put you off anyone can upgrade a car in a Kit car fashion but it takes skill and dedication and clever engineering to take what an original car was and make it better retaining what was originally there just improving what was originally there just not a fan of hot Rods from rare sports cars IMOP but each to there own going down the V8 302 route is at least in period and in the spirit of the mark but once you go into modern engines from marks that where not correct to the mark IMOP you loose the spirit of the classic car

Lols anyhoo I have a jaguar s type engine in my s3 it's far from finished but made 210 bhp at the wheels with the standard s type manifold and an st220 throttle. The inlet valves were in unpowered position (don't take then out!!!) so it's down on top end power by approx 15 we will map this to open up shortly but I want a better TB first. My st220 is pretty worn and has funny progression. I kept the s type gearbox which has a 1:1 5th so it's a sprinter for now got a longer crown for the 7.5" diff but may go for an m3 diff and theoretical 160 mph eek smile I know my s isn't as special as this car and it's my daily driver. Once the diff is done it will hang with most 4l v8s it's lighter and more powerful than the Cologne gets better fuel economy so win win win IMHO track v road made me engine mount adaptors so the original engine will bolt back in but can't see it happening.

I went for cop and sequential inj but you could save a lot using edis.

Happy to answer questions

Hi Guys, the "supercharger" whine is from the alternator, it's working, but will be changed together with the engine this winter.

On the "to-do" list for this winter:
- brand new engine with race cams, 8 lbs flywheel and dual 7.25 inch clutch.
- rebuild the drive shafts and LSD mounts after all of was bade to metal scrap in the last race
- remove the brake servo, and make a dual master setup
- make mounts and add 4pot front calipers and change the rear slaves for larger dia.
- mod. the steering column with an 1:1.5 gear to make the steering faster
- refurb the cabin with suede and new carpets
- make 2 new front upper wishbones to allow for increased camber and wider front rims
- find some bbs 17" rims and super soft tyres

That should make the 1,5 sec / min I'm missing to the 911's - specially new carpets will cut lap times :-)

The standard wishbones with some mods will allow 4 deg negative with 7.5 inch 15" wheels?

If a modern v 6 is the way to go and you are looking for power and a classic look the boys at vortex now make an adapter plate to fit the Nissan g box , it's a very slim unit with only one exhaust manifold to make ! Even the Ecu is now not to much of a problem any more as it needs to run twin variable cams ( well the 3.2 any how ). Around 250hp is fairly easy to obtain can of cause fit turbo but in a light tvr a step to far but the mill can take it.

I would be wary of using an engine designed for fwd. you can have all sorts of oil issues not to mention packaging issues.

Nissan 370z v6 box and diff? Prob too wide.

Didn't say it would be easy wares the fun in that but putting a cosworth in an s is a tight fit but it will go I did buy a vr6 and do a dry fit only decided not to use it due to the Ecu fitting and no adapter plate at the time but two years on things have moved on. Fwd engines to rwd can have oil proplems even the red top conversion I did in an m had to change the baffle plates but this now has all been done and proved by vortex I believe, but it was only an idea thinking out side of the box etc. I would look cool as hell!!!!!!

I've thought a Nissan/Japanese engine of some sort would be nice in a TVR for something different, something like a Skyline (RB20 or RB26) or Supra engine with a big obnoxious exhaust, biggrin, or for a classic take, an S20 out of a Skyline 2000GT-R.

I believe there is a cerbera with a skyline unit installed. !?!

Oh and a cerbera with an m3 engine.

For my s I did consider a YB cosworth turbo like the racer but would to too manic.

The s type works IMHO because it's ready packaged for rwd no box or clutch issues to speak of.

Even then it still costs to get it up and running.
