After a lot of preparation work to the body, it went to to paintshop.
He did some remedial works and applied a new polyester base coat ( do no know the english word for it) .
Now the car is back in the garage for me for sanding with 180 and filling small holes, dents (???), blisters, edges aso.

Did it for the first time so asked for info as much as possible.

Cost me a lot of time learning to work with steel filler. The rubbing was just a matter of taking enough time, long strokes, circling and a lot of patience.
Brought the engine cover back to the painter for check whether I did the right thing.

I passed my exam so now stat with the body.

After this they will apply an extra polyester coating which is thinner and then I start all over again with 280 sanding paper.

I am thinking and dreaming of Vixen only.

Hello,

I was checking the fitting of the wiper boxes, wiring and wiper motor.
Was surprised by the lousy solution, long spacer and box hanging in the air.

Has anybody an better solution for it?
Wheel box with shorter rotorarm?
But with the correct wiper movement on the frontscreen.
It also rains in Holland so an good working system is what I need.

When those wheelboxes are clamped up with the metal tubes, they are a lot more solid than you would expect.

You could file down the spacers a little and put a large washer in there ?

You will need that clearance for the screen seal and crash pad.

After

Now in the final stage of rubbing grade 800 and than to the painter for Silver Fox colour.

You can see the black mist where I have to scrub more. Still finding (some) pinholes

Inside engine cover matt but he fire wall and footwell bright so you can see the hard work on getting it right.

The item on the left, should be an engine mount. The two on the left look like suspension bump stops. No idea, if any of them belong to your car.

Best regards,
Bernard.

The Vixen has a new paint coat.

First pics still in the paintshop do no good to the endresult.

Happy with the result of my hours/days of rubbing and the color paint.

All the brightwork needed polishing.
Had to find out what is the best way.

By hand all the dirt taken from the parts and then polishing with a cloth wheel.
Even that work needs a lot of experience before the result is fine.

just 2 pics (before and after) but most of you will regonize it.

I haven't got around to taking my bumpers off yet, are they customarily chromed or stainless? Mine have a thick coat of silver paint on and I darent look underneath.

If they are standard Vixen items, they are aluminium alloy and have to be polished! Mine are in a real mess and will need repairing before I even get that far!

I start with the interior and one of the items is the door paneling.
I took the vinyl from the panel and found the "insulation" underneath. Is is foam with a type of cloth on top of it.
Because it came loose from the recess (pocket) area off the door the moulding was hardly visible.
This layer was also cut but I wonder why?

Has anybody an advice in;
- how to get the glue from the card? Or can I leave it on? It is in some areas a lot of material!!!
- do you need the foam layer? Or can I glue it directly on?
- I see a lot of interiors with screwed door card. Is this for easy fixing or any other good reason?

Thanx for helping.
Hans
