A little help needed. Does the pedal box on the Vixen need the same spacers as the M series? Also the does the servo use a spacer as well? This is the problem when you buy a car pieces with parts missing lol.
Cheers Chris
Hi Chris.Cheers Chris
Spacer goes between servo rear face and bulkhead, approx 10mm thick.
Spacer between the Brake and Clutch, The pedal box also uses little phosphor bronze bushings.
Originally there were also little flat springs on each side but I think they are no longer available so many just use an appropriate side washer to take up side thrust.
Its always best to build it all up off the car and to polish the running rod faces where they pass through the bushes, I build with plenty of copper slip.
All parts as usual via Adrian, I think he also does a service exchange unit?

The pedal box spacer I meant was the one that fits between the body and the box on the M series cars does the Vixen have the same set up?

Mine doesn't and I don't recall seeing one on a vixen before. The pedal box spacer I meant was the one that fits between the body and the box on the M series cars does the Vixen have the same set up?

One thing to consider which I didn't do is to mount the pedal box to the underside of the bulkhead but incorporate a thin rubber gasket, will probably provide a certain level of resilience. Mine creaks a bit against the fibreglass with our it.

Cheers Guys
I will be fitting all the brake lines and fuel lines soon, I have changed the master cylinder to the Cortina Mk4 unit which is the same as the M. Does anyone have any pictures or drawings for the brake pipe layout especially the rear from the hub forward. I have a full set of stainless steel flexible pipes that came with the car one side is longer than the other. On the Vixen does the front flexi go direct into the front caliper or is it like an M where it has a short copper pipe in between?
Any help would be great

Flexi sections to rear brakes "appear" to go the wrong way from the bracket on the chassis; the 'solid' pipe goes in from under / outboard and the flexi starts pointing up / inboard then turns towards hub, again to avoid fowling on springs. I hope this makes sense!
Cheers that makes sense now, it just looked wrong but as you say the only way to get it routed without catching the shocker.Chris

Front brake hoses are in the radiator support brackets. Please please loose those air filters before you start the car.
Looks very tidy! Bet you are done by the pre80s. Were are you with the trim?
Best,
D.
Thanks D it's a guessing game on the rebuild due to getting it already dismantled. Will get them in the right place now though. The interior is in need of fully restoring which I haven't started yet. Pre 80's would be nice but unlikely. Once the warmer weather comes I intend using the ML more in my spare time so may get what I can over the winter and then put it on hold for a while.Looks very tidy! Bet you are done by the pre80s. cheers for all the other comments
