TVR 2500 Vixen radiator hose
Discussion
I've just had a look at mine. The bottom hose is in two parts with a metal pipe joining them. I'm guessing this is non original. The top hose is the same. I've checked the parts catalogue from the TVRCC but it has nothing regarding the cooling system.
Sorry for being off topic but do you know what radiator/expansion tank pressure cap poundage you are using on yours?
Please let us know what you find out about the hoses. Also, any chance of posting some pics of the car please? Not many of these around and I can't get enough of them.
Cheers,
Chris

You may have answered my question. If you look at the Triumph TR6 parts diagram you will see a metal pipe with rubber pipes each end to connect to water pump and radiator. If you have this set up then likely that TVR found that the TR6 parts would fit around the 2500 chassis and used them. My rubber hose may not be original. Will be visiting TRGB this weekend to check these parts out.
You can see a pic of my 2500 on the TVR Vixen registry:

Yes, got the correct 2500 decals from USA. They make all the difference as there is little else to identify it from a standard Vixen.
I added the overdrive unit - 'A' type - from early TR6. Made the decision to do that after I first drove the car in fourth gear !- OD on 2nd, 3rd & 4th - although I only use it when in 4th. Have fitted overdrive idiot light to remind myself when its engaged.
Speedo 160mph - can't remember without a closer look.
Back on the subject of the lower front radiator hose, the standard Triumph steel pipe is not bent at the correct angle, so using that along with the connecting elbow and straight section is not going to work. However I now know that the hose if from a Triumph GT6. It has the correct profile but may not be long enough to reach the radiator and need a connector and short straight section.

Hi Mike
I also have a 2500 Vixen in metallic silver and I too am looking to replace that bottom radiator hose. Can I ask what you used in the end? My current bottom hose loops over the top of the chassis rail which doesn't really work - it would be better to go underneath it I think. Also did you find any preformed hoses to connect the heater box? And finally where in the US did you get your 2500 decal?
Thanks!
Richard

Happy to - though I can't get to it until the end of the month. I'll take some then.

Excellent, I'll look forward to seeing them.Cheers
I'm trying to compile a list of all the right hand drive 2500s ever made. It might take a while!
Any progress on the radiator hose Mike?
Chris
Hi Stevo and others with 2500s...
You may know all this already but in case it's any help I think all the heater hoses are Triumph 2500/2000 TC and S model items and available individually at Rimmer Bros. Some of the hoses are also available for other Triumphs too, but you can find all you need on the saloon page of their website. For the two hoses that attach to the heater core I have ordered two of their part number GRH963 on the assumption I can cut the right-angle bend off one of them.
For the rad hoses I've ordered a GT6 lower rad hose on Mike's advice in the page above, and will see what else I need to get it to the rad outlet. According to a U.S. owner the top rad hose from a ''95-'99 Dodge Neon SOHC, no A/C is pretty much the perfect replacement for the double hose and connector arrangement we use for a top hose at the moment. They are available for less than $5 in the States but you will have to pay about $20 for shipping. They look to me to be the right shape but I am the wrong end of the country from my Vixen at the moment. I will let you know how it all fits in a couple of weeks when I get back to it.
After a LOT of detective work I discovered that the brilliant Bill Rachal at Dominion Spares in Virginia (Google it) has got the "2500" decals and many of the engine bay decals and plates too. He is excellent to do business with - call him and tell him what you want and he will email photos for you before you buy. Again, you will pay for shipping...
I hope that's helpful. Now, I need a proper throttle linkage arrangement for my 2500 Vixen (twin SUs) at the point where it attaches to the throttle lever. The Triumph saloon part would be good but are hen's teeth to find. I'd also appreciate any advice about getting new switch plates made up (or sourced). I've found someone who can make them out of 1mm anodised aluminium but that doesn't seem substantial enough - and I also need the exact measurements as I no longer have the originals. Can anyone help...?
Cheers

Thanks for the info Richard, I'm sure it'll be of use.
This thread on the 2500M throttle linkage may give some pointers.

Stevo, some more pics of your throttle cable and linkage would be much appreciated. Mine is non standard and I'm not sure how it is all supposed to fit together. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

Thanks for the pic Stevo. And as Chris said - yes please to some more showing the bracket and how you have mounted it please.
And another couple of questions for 2500 Vixen owners...
1. What do you have in the central hole of your main switch plate? Vixens usually had the ignition barrel there but ours are column mounted of course, so what was put in that "ignition" hole as standard?
2. Do all the 2500 Vixens have a brushed chrome-effect strip along the bottom of that switch plate labelling the switches or did some have the original engraved plate?
3. If it was the brushed chrome strip has anyone had a go with finding a replacement?
