hehe No Glen its not been on
I saw it myself a few weeks ago yes the car has some history on it one being that it was not built as a SE turbo but converted by the Factory in 1982.
Also there was some work done by Adrian @ Exactly a few years ago so any potential buyer would be best to speak to him as you would for all Turbo cars.
Overall not a bad car chassis etc been done when rebuilt but not the paintwork recently so an older re spray that's not bad but would need to be re done to get to show condition rear vents filled when re sprayed and one side showing though where it was filled.
A few other things like rear hatch struts and wing mirrors need replacing etc unless they have done this since I saw the car.
I think will probably end up being sold to a new TVR owner rather than a long term classic owner a bit like when I bought my 3000s from them and my adventure began wink
Engine did need the Turbo setting up properly which it was not when I saw the car.
Also that sunroof will not be liked by many a poor addition IMOP.
A

Sunroof not my cup of tea either.
But if you want an SE clone, that's type of roof they had.
Originals had electric mirrors, air con, narrower, Compomotive spare, that fits under bonnet etc etc
Cheers Ian

The sunroof, or "moonroof" as it was described was a thing of its time and part of the original Taimar Turbo SE spec.

I assume the "Red" car was originally Peter Hancocks car (then reg no RED 213). It was the subject of much discussion long before Pistonheads was dreamed of, mainly because Peter seemed to claim that because it was retrofitted at the factory it was an original Taimar Turbo SE, those with one of the 3 original cars disagreed. I owned the black SE for a short while, the maroon car for considerably longer and have been a friend of Roger who owns TVR 191 for many years.

I have seen or owned many of the factory retrofitted cars or those done elsewhere. All of them have the wide front and rear arches but few have the front wings (behind the wheel) widened to match the bonnet. Many have the rear vent on the bonnet. Most but by no means all have wide Compomotives fitted to the car but not a narrow matching spare. Many have wooden dashes, electric windows and leather seats.

The one thing I have never seen, but not saying there may be cars I have never seen, is the graphic equaliser fitted in the roof of the 3 original cars.

ps, don't recall air con on retro cars either but that would be relatively easy.

SE original or not ; it was a hot discussion in sprintmagazine in the 1990's : 3 or 4 Se's left the factory in 1979 and a few were rebuilt or reshaped to an SE version by the TVR factory in 1982 . I never understood quite good this discussion about being original or not. If it is done by the factory ,even three years later : it has the same specification ,so what is the real difference ? in price ? not of course .

There is a 3000 SE TVR Turbo convertible for sale In Germany: it was original blue with light grey leather and one of the previous owners was David Field (RIP) ( ex businesspartner of Gerald Jinks from DAVIDGERALD TVR Sprotscars.
By coincidence I saw this cars twice ; one time in 1995 at David Gerald TVR and in 2009 in Aachen ( Germany) it stood outside for almost 3 months , asking price was 12500€ and it was in a poor condition. Now it is very lovely restored and rebuilt to LHD , but it is still quite expensive pfffffffffffffffff

I like a Taimar or a Convertible SE very much ............ it is wonderful
