Dear FasterM,

First of all, how bout revealing your first name, so much easier....

Following the rebuild I've cleaned the interior which is now good with some patina. Seats and rest of the interior are a shade different, should rectify that, but all sorts of things keep on coming up (non car related, like work...) so, it is on the to-do list.........

Hood is double duck, very nice (and leaks like a flipping sieve...furious)

Frank

Hiya Mike,

The other blue one is Rudy', my mate, has had a full (and well executed) rebuild. Don't know if it 'fooks' good, you'll better ask him.....(it probably drives him round the bend, sometimes....)

I did lie a bit about the hood biggrin its not so bad if the sun is shining !

Good luck on the search, i'll keep an eye open for you on the continent !

Do all the 3000s hoods leak like that or just some as i can expect some water as most soft tops on older cars i have been in have the odd drip sounds like yours has a big Drip.

Frank,
refresh my memory, is "Double Duck" a woven fabric or is it a sort of plastic Hood.
If it is a woven fabric you could use a product on it like for waterproofing tents.

It is the woven fabric one, and it has been waterproofed, the leaking is actually along the outer screen pillars, running down into/along the sidescreens, it needs a s/s leak-profile and measures to make the water run along the sides iso into the cabin.

Actually, sounds like a good job to prevent me going for logistics duties on shopping, coming Saturday...........biggrin

Once the modified channel like i have on my car is fitted it nearly eliminates the leaks the original gutter strip is so small that it does very little to preventthe water coming in.
Fit of side screens in relation to the modified strip is vital so every car will be slightly different IMOP.

A 3000S will leak - you won't stop it. You may improve it, then it's a question of what level of leakage are you happy with.

I may be the exception John but apart from a small drip in the two front corners which i stuff a duster in if its raining heavy the rest is fine the modified screen strip seems to work fantastic that area seems to be the main issue granted if it was parked up out in the rain i could only stuff a duster in one corner but that does not happen often although i guess if i slid the window open popped a duster in and slid the window closed it would work as well.
But the stories i hear of footwells and mats soaking wet have never happened and i came back from the pre 80s a few years back in rain of biblical proportions so well done to Colin who designed the strip.
But i have not seen another car with my modified strip.

I know what Andrew is on about, as i've seen it, and it does work.

I really should get something similar in place, but don't get round to do it (I'm reminded every time I drive in proper rain, which is not often wink )

It is on the same to-do list as the colouring of the interior (which will be dealt with as soon as I've done driving but given the 'indian summer' we are about to have that will be November cool

cheers guys,

Frank

the big problem with leaks is to find where and how it's coming in

Beste Andrew.
An AC Cobra with a leaking roof?????
Or with an Italian plastic body????.

It is good the Yanks took over the British AC design to make it "immortal".
