good pictures, also a nice M-series, looks low and nice flares.
What is this thread about? Pictures of early TVRs? Or early pictures of early TVR´s?
Here comes a picture with a M-series car. The photo is from this year – the car from 1973.

I believe both is possible, at least it depends on how you read it I guess.
I like both biggrin

what a great looking M-series, looks a bit mean but clean with it SE looking flares and 'brutal' stance, great colour too for such.

I like it, does it have the V6 or...edit, I just read it, Rover V8 biggrin great.

Its no ones Thread its whatever you want it to be early pictures are always fantastic especially Family pictures that have never been shared but pictures of any early Pre 80S Cars current or archived is fantastic to bring them all into one place is rather stunning when you go through this thread.
Even though I started it and I had no idea the result would be this its rather impressive whats out there and thanks to all and I am sure there is lots more out there both old and New
Its now everyones Thread so keep enjoying
Andrew

That´s right, René, but in my understanding a Rover V8 engine doesn't say anything without the right induction and the state of tuning.

[quote=GTRene]I see that I come into the Griffith pictures on my PC as well, so here they come and more to come.
edit, not there yet, first many Grantura 1800s etc.

These beautiful American Racing wheels seems to be perfect for early TVRs. The U.S. alternative to Minilite – slightly influenced from the american muscle car style of the sixties. It´s not easy to find originals in Europe. New aftermarket rims in different styles are available today.

I'll see if I have any more recent photos I can upload later

A TVR can be used in snow as well as can be seen in the photo below:

It's better in the summer:

The engine bay is not quite to original spec. Volvo 2 lite engine with SU HS8 carbs (same type as in Marcos 1800GT)

is such engine a direct swap or more difficult, how much hp does it give in that set up, around 120 or more?
I also see now 2 tailpipes instead of 1? in the older pictures, also looks like the ends have extra silencers on them?

The engine has a slightly ported head and an uprated camshaft. I'm guessing about 120-130 hk. I used to run it with Dellorto carbs but the Su give a better look.
It sits in the standard engine mounts using simple "adapters". The gearbox is also Volvo, a M41 four speed unit with overdrive. I made a new crossmember/transmission mount to fit it but there are no changes to the chassis. The propshaft is also custom, Volvo front end and TVR rear end.

When I bought the car it had no silencer at all (like in the first pictures). I have made a dual exhaust with as much silencing volume as possible just to keep the noise down. The tailpipes are like the ones in the link below (top middle picture).

@ Grantura SWE: Very nice car. I have seen photos a longer time ago and I thought about this color for my Grantura Mk3 which is grey now. I like this color very much. Is that original?

Please note that the photos first posted by GTRene show two different cars. These

show No. 18048 which is LHD. I think the car is in the US and has been since new. It's in the Grantura registry.
Mine is No. 18101 and is RHD (in Sweden but it came her from the UK in 1986).

My car was originally in a brighter red, I’ll post photos later. It was resprayed by a previous owner. I don’t know the name of the colour but it is a standard BMC-colour. I assume it might have been an option when the cars was new as not only 18048 but also No. 18107 also share the same colour (see the Grantura registry).

Lovely Build and lovely period engine..not unlike a crossflow to look at.

Thanks,
Yes, it looks a lot like a Ford Kent (pre crossflow) with the carbs on the other side, but bigger! They can be bored out to 2,2 litre.

These photos are from 1986 when my car arrived in Sweden (they look older).
Judging by the height of the front I assume that the drivetrain was removed when the photos were taken. During the 90's the car was equipped with a Ford 289 and T10 transmission but as the authorities refused it to become road legal with that configuration it was later converted to Volvo drivetrain.
