Lovely looking car.

My guess is that it's an S3 though - only a guess mind you.

The rear suspension looks Vixen and not M series to me.

I'm really enjoying the pics Rene. Please keep posting.

If it wasn't for the zepher side vents (S3) I would have said an S2 (pilot lights, dash mounted mirror and double rear spring/shocks) so perhaps somebody else will know.

I'm wrong about the pilot lights, seems the Royal Enfield style lights were also fitted to S3 cars so guess that's what it is.

Also 'J' reg, therefore earlier than my S3 which is 'K' reg.

Vixen would not have had double shock and double spring setup as I recall?

It looks like a transition S2 - S3 car. Bodyshell is very S2 apart from the side vent detail.
S2 had trailing spring and forward shocker.. Twin springs and shocks is a later modification.

It appears to have a cable clutch, that would make it S3. My old 69 VixenS2 had double spring/shocks on the back.

I was told my S3 would have been single rear shock (forward of hub) originally and the 4 shocks at rear was later a modification.

I thought the S2 had the quad spring/shock set set up and the later S3 went to double springs? Certainly my early S2 had the quad set up fitted.

S2 originally had single damper in fore position and a spring / damper unit in rear
S3 had a single spring / damper unit and in many but not all the extra chassis brackets were deleted.

No Vixens had 4 springs as standard at rear.

The car is definitely S3 but has more of an S2 Bodyshell. IE none of the horrible return lips at the sill lines and rear under cloak

The selling ad says/said S4, its for sale, so I named it the way the seller did biggrin

edit, the ad speaks of 1973...
but https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/Default....
says 1971...hm.

Could be but would the side vent trim have moved and a side air flap fitted. All possible I suppose.
