Well here are some pictures of I guess what could be described as the most original Griffith in the World but also the most neglected.
Its Chassis 153 and was purchased by a dealer before it could be taken for a test drive as was normal it was picked up by trailer and taken home the Dealer passed away shortly after and his Wife re married the car sat there under a cloth cover outside and as you can see there is one mile on the clock the pictures don't show how bad the decay is however a fantastic time warp car and further detailed pictures would be fantastic for reference to help others trying to restore cars to original spec.
The Car is for sale but not exactly marketed where I can post a link the seller has a price in mind which would shock some so in case of causing a sudden death from shock I wont post wink
That Dash really does help to indorse the story its rather stunning.

is that one and the same car but just another bonnet? a bit MGB style, not bad.

or are those 2 different Griffits?

I think so maybe the driver has a habbit of hitting things but that's cool as long as he is winning most of the time

I really love the simple 60s period look on the engine bay and in Black its even better hope to achieve that simple look on the Tuscan but it wont look as good in red as it does in Black
Next car will have to be black or gun metal Grey with a Climax engine wink

what bits could possibly be detailed on this car? The VIN plate?
I am sure they have been sorted now but the head bolts and a few other engine bits where rusted and just let it down a bit nothing that a Saturdays work would not have sorted.
When you go through JD Classics workshop and show room everything is just pristine and when I looked at the Griffith these bits just stood out but I am just being picky its a stunning car

I get it, haven´t seen the car myself but it certainly looks good, very good indeed.
Many Griffiths are far from being restored to what one might consider even close to being original though, which does surprise me a bit. Had it been an early Porsche 911, many of us would be using the latest (all truth) book of authenticity.
That's one of the nice things about TVRs although I like to at least see them being done in period but its a Broad Camp and there is a place for all aspects I know that when I finished the 78 911sc Targa last year for my brother there where comments that it was not the original colour even though it was a correct period Blue rather than the chocolate brown it was originally but he loves it and uses it all the Time at the moment as he has had an operation on his leg and cant drive the Taimar for a bit

Thanks for sharing!

And please, do shock us and share what the owner is asking for...things change even though I read many of us think it only applies for other marques and not for old not TVRssmile

Nice, I thought that licence plate looks familiar to me, I have 16 pictures on my pc from that car, later on it looks like this>

and I guess later then that like>

will post more of that car later when I'm in that Griff 400 file.
This car is from what i have been told a TUSCAN V8 not a Griffith and was the sister car to Matins ML500 and was used as a factory demonstrator and was one of the first cars fitted with the Chromed Window frames no Quarter Lights if not the first not sure if Martins car was first or this one

Do you have interior early shots of the car as talking to a certain young man he believes it was finished to Tuscan V8 se spec as a demonstrator for the following Tuscans

I will have to look but yes i seem to remember it did have a Tuscan interior. As for the window frames i ve seen pics of 200/2 and 3 and they both have chrome surrounds with no quarterlights. Earlier UK Griff 200/gb/5043 also has a Tuscan interior
I think that if you go back to the time they where made they would have been sold as Tuscans not Griffith as that was the latest model and customers would have been buying into the latest model which was basically a Griffith 400 with cosmetic changes even keeping the Bonnet on the early Tuscan V8SE they would have used up the remaining Griffith Chassis that would have had that numbering.
Chassis Numbering etc was not as important to new car customers but new features where ?
Makes it even more interesting IMOP as its both a Griffith Heritage car and a Tuscan Development car very special
I think there where a couple of Griffiths that when crashed around that time when they went back to the factory where given the latest features ie Tuscan as I guess we would do today if we owned a 12 month old Morgan or Nobel that went back to the factory if there was the opportunity to upgrade to the latest spec

angeldrunk Its a Griffith pretending to be a Cobra, wonder how it sounds.
Its a Griffith that's been destroyed IMOP probably done at a Time when there Values where far lower than today and someone wanted a Street Rod looking car but hey it will give someone something to sort one day
There is a you tube clip of it somewhere if you really want to know how it sounds in the course of research seen it once and that was to many
