This may be of some use to the OP. It's taken from a 1974 Auto Car road test of a 3000M. I don't know what make it is though , sorry.

I've just managed to crop this from a Road & Track 1977 2500M road test. It's a bit hard to tell from the photo but it looks like the same type of wheel that's on the 1974 3000M.

Chris
Early M series wheel , not a wheel from a previous wheel supplier, specifically for TVR.

Yes, maybe? It has no markings but looks similar. What would it have had new? Or more importantly, anyone know of a source for a replacement?

Neil
The original OE steering wheel for TVR Vixen S2 to early M Series cars (with Vixenstyle dashboards) was small boss Motalita. 13" with thick grip black leather covered rim. 3 spokes at 3 o,clock, 6 o,clock and 9 o,clock. Most has 3 round holes on spokes, occasionally supplied with 2 holes. Majority were anodised black but occasionally polished were fitted, ? Customer request?. All fitted with thumb grips on spokes ans engraved "Motalita". The wheel was attached to the boss with 8 countersunk slot headed fasteners with anti shake washer and unf nylon nuts.

Mountney wheels were NEVER fitted as OE, the company did not exist till about 1990 and supplied quite nasty cheap aftermarket steering wheels, usually trimmed in vinyl.

Original wheels are very rare with the small boss. I have a few used ones but new ones don't exist. In the past I have had them refurbished by Motalita and the results are excellent.

For some reason I cannot upload pics onto PH but will try again later, maybe a system fault .

That looks a lot like a nine hole boss.

Best,

A nice steering wheel is important for any car.
It makes or brakes the car.

Do not know whether the wheel as was installed in my car has any history or originality.
In the underside of the spline 173B is stamped.

At least I have not seen it in the pictures of this thread,

Hans

Hi Andrew,

I am over 6.2 so my long legs need room.
Seat as far back as possible so the steering wheel also further from the dash.
Do not like the "racy" look with to much stretched arms.
It's for the younger boy rider.

But having said that, I have never driven my Vixen yet. Better go back to the garage first.
