Hi guys,

I am looking to sell a TVR 3000M project, it is a 1977 model that is stated to be a 3.2L V6 on the V5 (although my limited knowledge of the M series lead me to believe that were 3.0L). It has covered 74,000 miles with many previous MOT's to validate the mileage. It has extensive engine, suspension, diff and gearbox work in 1989 at TVR power totalling around £8,450 with many up rated parts (around 25,000 miles ago).

The car requires an enthusiastic overhall but it is by no means a wreck. It has not been run for a few months according to the previous owner and has been off the road for a few years. The paint has cracked in a few areas, the rear windscreen needs re-fitting and the interior looks worse for wear. On the flip side, the chassis looks to be in pretty good shape from what I could gather and it is all there ready to be tackled.

As the title suggests, my question is; what do people think it's approximate value could be? I appreciate that without seeing the car in person it is hard to tell, but I invite suggestions and rough ballpark figures.

I will post some images of the car to assist your estimates.

Thank you all in advance.

Chris

A lot depends on what exactly you have. The engine may well be a tuned or race engine if it had that sort if money spent on it in 86. The problem with these projects is they cost more to put right than the end value. You need to give us a bit more detail on the engine and more pictures especially of the chassis out riggers and around the diff hanger.

Well if that engine and diff is still good then you may have a couple of grand in those alone if you can get someone interested. What are your plans are you wanting to sell it or restore it youself?

TVR Power and Power Torque... are 2 different company's...TVR Power are as you see it, started as NCK racing and evolved along with working on TVR's and NCK racing in the same building, etc. etc. etc. Power Torque supply out aftermarket engines to a host of car builders ('anyone' like TVR and ANY industrial purchaser) as the way 'anyone' could obtain 'FORD' engines in a setup that Ford (as a car company) did very little to help, BUT the 'anyone' could configure a package without disrupting car production, they could pick and choose the package that would be delivered to the them, with one payment and on one order.
As I understand it PT also reconditioned FORD factory engines and blocks, that Ford production, if they so much as sniffed an issue with, moved them on and as such sold these 'as new' engines via this system.
Adrian@

PS put an MOT on it and it's a sale-able TVR.

edited to say that they used to supply 'Ford' blue ribbon' reconditioning service to local garages (someone posted me direct).

Genuie Swaymar Heads and Genuine Powermax Pistons could make the engine worth ££££, obviously depends on condition, but as Adrian says get an MOT on it, and then sell.

I've probably missed something here but why does the registration on the car differ from that written on the invoice?

Hi all,

Thank you for your responses. I think it needs a fair bit of work before calling it a road-worthy vehicle. The brakes are tight and it needs plenty of little touch ups I'm sure.

I would rather sell it complete that split it up as there are only a finite amount of these little cars left.

It has had plenty of owners over the last 40 odd years so personal plates have been on the car; hence I have different registration numbers on some of the documentation.

I know an awful lot more about post 91 TVRs, so please excuse my ignorance on the M series.

Are we collectivly saying that the car is worth circa £2k in it's current condition?

All the best

My gut feel was £2-4k so nice to see it agrees with Adrian's view.

If it does have the rare and desirable bits listed then it might tempt someone to pay a bit more. Always difficult to value projects.

If you want 2k I would give it unseen if it still has that engine fitted but it's probably worth more so don't give it away. Pm me and I will try help you on value.
