It was suggested to me today that an interesting Thread to follow up on the early TVR Pictures thread would be one of what engines people have retro fitted into early cars they actually jokingly said what engines haven't been fitted as there is a real history of people modifying there cars but in thinking this might get silly.

I know there are a lot some that may have been one offs either by the factory or those connected to the factory I will list a few from my limited knowledge.

Daimler V8
Rover V8
these come into this category then

Ford Cosworth
Alfa
Ford Durotec

Just to start this off with some pictures here is one of the Cosworth cars

The Custom Car magazine tested a BRM twin cam engined Vixen in 1970. They stated it was Martin Lilley's personal transport. Apparently this was a development car for a BDA version that was due to be made available.

I've no idea if the BDA version ever came to fruition. Hopefully someone will let us know.

This one had a Formula 5000 engine and was a 1971 hill climbing championship winning car.

It looks like it's got a Tuscan SE dash and centre console.

Vauxhall 2 litre red top, in a 1600M. As featured in Sprint June 2005.
Nissan 1.8 litre turbo (ex Nissan Silvia) in a Vixen 1300.
I am pretty sure someone put a VAG diesel engine in an M series once, not sure what happened to that.

Oliver.

I remember seeing a diesel powered M advertised a couple of years ago. I think someone in the Car Club has got a Lotus twin cam in a Vixen.

Does anyone know for sure if the 1600S was ever made?

Not quite...an M, as that is a late chassis.

Dave and Sue Griffin have a lovely baby blue 1800s with a small turbo Nissan? engine in it.

They take it all over the place, including Zolder every year - very reliable, I'm told.
