Good luck to the new owner and I hope the car appears at the TVRCC Pre 80s event next year.

Fair enough, but you need to be realistic about what dealers actually get once VAT, tax, cost of sale etc has been put in. Steve has hinted at that in his post, but cars that stick around cost a fair bit in advertising, cash tied up, etc, and if you 'price to sell' then your margin is slashed in the first place, its not really a win-win situation!!!

I sold my Taimar to a 'dealer', I got a fair price for it (considering the condition), and a completely hassle free sale, I have no regrets, it suited me at the time. I've also sold a LR Defender to a main dealer in the past, not because it got me the ultimate best price, but it was quick, and a decent no haggle price.

Selling cars privately is easy when there is a demand for them, and that either happens because the car is sought after, or happens because it is priced to sell.

It would be nice David if there where more dealers that specialised in the older TVRs that where selling cars either there own stock or brokered stock that they had checked over and you could trust and the work that was needed was done by them to a high standard so those that have not the experience can buy into the cars with confidence that is worth a Premium to some buyers.
Most are sold though dealers that have never sold one before and from the look of them have not done much to them apart from wash and pump up the tyres.
A Classic TVR with a 120 point check over that a Dealer stands by would be great

Sadly i visited a Dealer recently that had a TVR on Consignment and even with my limited Knowledge i was able to point out things that required doing before the car was sold i actually asked had it been prepared Yet and the answer was Yes its sold as seen and no we are not doing those things and if the buyer wants them done then we will do and charge if they dont notice then we will let it go i must say i was shocked and the car was not exactly cheap i wont say the price as it may identify the seller.

Just to clear something up a little, my earlier post re: "being beaten to it" wasn't aimed at dealers or anyone else. I saw the thread at 1pm today, phoned the seller as soon as I had read the advert link and it had just sold. Good luck to the buyer and good work for getting in there quickly - it sounded like a great buy to me.

I think that this TVR M series V8 (see link) sold at Fernhust Motor Co for circa £25k shows what a great buy someone has just had with this PH listed car. Like many I'm sure, I sat looking over the pictures last night wondering if I should just pick up the phone and buy without seeing it in the flesh...not brave enough!

Hi,

For those who fished behind the net.
With another steering wheel it is a nice car.
It is for sale for a long period, nevertheless the price is rising.

I went to look at the Green car in Lancashire yesterday. Good solid car and runs very well, Paint is not great and the interior let's the car down a bit. Basically, the original ad at 8250 was honest as to it's condition and that was a great price for the car, at 12500 It's too much in my opinion and the seller is not considering offers so we'll see...

And what's the difference between the black and blue one?

Besides the color only 12.000 GBP ??????????

Or am I wrong?.

( I will not bring prices in discussion anymore, however it's fun))

I've seen the blue one at some small 'meeting' but was not impressed, not even for the earlier lower price ;-)

Oke " in the flesh " perhaps a difference. However I saw the blue car too.
Pictures do not say all.

But 12.000 GBP to spent for refurbishment can do a lot.

Opps Earlier I said to stop talking about money / costs.
So I will do.

Enough cars and prices to make everybody happy in his own way.
