Anyone have a pair of these?

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-617030

I bought similar items from a Dutch supplier - but they have an adjusting screw for length - this makes fitting impossible as pointing point is flush aside from the two fitting holes.

any info - let me know!

Yes the Vixen uses Ford Anglia 105e bonnet catch.

The Vixen part is non adjustable (as the catch itself is on sliding holes on the shell) and the TVR part is converted into a fixed item by welding the pin into the top plate. My thoughts are that the OE part is Ford, and has a joggled central part set on an angle.

Sorry to revive this one - Adrian is right - pin is short and non-adjustable as its welded to the backing plate...why would anyone "design" that!?

They're working at the moment - so no rush to replace anything - just a faff to unlatch the bonnet. thanks for the replies!

Hello all,

I searched for an topic of TVR Vixen bonnet release. Mine are no good. Only found this topic.

Looked also in the Manual that stated;
Bonnet release pulls TR6 ? , try IMP and other Rootes vehicles, BLMC 1100
Transit Van: I found one in an old H reg Ford Transit van.

Can you help me for an address/supplier to buy a pair?
Thanx all.

Hans,

I just am amazed that people ask this type of question. I do not know what you do to support your family, but I am sure that you would not be giving away company secrets if someone asked?

Best of luck with your project.

is this not an enthusiast forum for the sharing of knowledge and information? Are you saying that Mr Grey is running a TVR Business. If so rather than posting pictures with cryptic messages, wouldn't it be a lot simpler to just be a little more transparent?

Personally I would prefer to make my own design handles with some M5 / M6 studding a little nob of my choosing (plenty nobs about) and a natty little stainless clevis fork.

We used to have a very well respected enthusiast / business poster who chose to leave the forum who shared information a lot more "freely" Than it seems is the expectation these days. That knowledge was built up over a lifetime of TVR ownership and is sorely missed here. It seems that after all, other enthusiasts with a very limited knowledge maybe have a slightly different agenda than most who still chose to post on here!

As such I can well understand a poster asking for a suppliers details from someone who generally masquerades as a mere enthusiast owner...

Nothing that a little silicone, self tappers and gaffer tape can not fix? Isn't that how a "nob" would sort it?

I was simply saying that not all information needs to be given. In many instances, large sums of money have been spent before an item is even found. The rare bits are getting harder to source anyway, even if the part numbers, etc were given!

Happy Friday.

Best,
D.

You don't seem to want to answer a simple question Mr Zumstein? You are trying to divert attention to the issue at hand.

Is Mr Gray an enthusiast owner who has gleaned information from others and is happy to share his knowledge? Or for the past 4 years or so has he merely been absorbing others knowledge to a point at which he has decided to set up a little niche business and as such he now no longer wishes to share his trade secrets?

I am sorry but it isn't clear..This forum is for allegedly sharing knowledge If Mr Gray now does not wish to share his absorbed knowledge because he has a business interest to protect then that is fine. I just think that that the intention should be transparent for all to see on the forum perhaps. in that way someone wouldn't mistakenly ask where someone got something from since it would be clear that the posting was simply a free advert for the product!

Anyhow…Various available from Pennies to pounds, Bakelite, thermoplastic and aluminium..
I dare say I could even point people toward the original ford source if interested…
All information freely given as requested.

Please note that not all TVR's had the same type of handle. there are differences through various grantura / vixen and M variants, Early vixens even had formed round section threaded bar at some stages of production.. I dare say though that the secret source of supply will also be aware of this info.

http://www.directindustry.com/industrial-manufactu...

or this one which is a fortune!

http://www.ggrglass.co.uk/suction-mounts/powr-grip...

Or these in the states..

http://www.carrlane.com/catalog/index.cfm/27825071...

Forgot to add. There is still a Nice bloke based in Coventry That can supply an OE set as well.

It's very sad, and to the detriment of many enthusiasts that Adrian no longer posts here.

I however welcome another parts source - as someone building two cars would.

Transparency is always welcomed and if someone posts on here as a private person but is making profit beyond what HMRC would turn a blind eye too, then they should come out and let the forum know.

I remember not so many years ago a debacle about a chap that normally drove porches who bought a TVR and sold it shortly after. There was some real secret squirrel stuff went on to try and prove the guy was a trader. That all lands very close to the front doors of some of the posters on this thread...

For the good of the marque lets be open with each other and try to avoid the type of conflict that's made this place ess of an information source and more a location to trade insults.
