Theres ALWAYS a story Andrew…Sometimes OEM is a very distant second to real continuous history…..I think I always said that it would make a lovely old car for someone.

The new TVR folk provided those for last year. Seems the roar back is more purr than roar, but we wait...

The little red car has an interesting story and its nice to hear tales like that, but I thought events like this were to promote the marque?

While the other stands will have pristine examples of whatever they can pull together this little car is sat with no bumpers, an engine that was probably not on a drawing board when the car was built and generally looks a little sad?

Maybe sums up TVR at the moment??

Just an observation.

There is an alternative club being formed which is more focussed in other areas like pre-80's cars, competition and spares re-manufacture.
I don't think you are alone in the feeling that the current management of the club seems to have lost its direction and northern focus?
Whether it becomes another club big enough to give the current one something to aspire to remains to be seen.
Maybe its time to push an alternative membership experience for an increasing disenfranchised enthusiast base !

Difficult one Dolly.

I generally think that the car club and it’s band of volunteers that help organise the many excellent events that I have attended over the years, and hope to do so going forward, get it right.

Goodwood 2011 just one example of how well they can do things - they provided the opportunity for members to have a truly memorable weekend and provide a benefit for others.

Cars on display at this kind of an event, or when required for magazine articles, have so often been cars belonging to car club committee folk (to the annoyance of members in past years – self excluded) so it’s nice to see that trend broken.

I just think that the marque is promoted so much better with show quality cars and I await the “cars displayed are restricted by those who volunteer to display” reasoning to be trotted out I offer the previous paragraph as a reason folk no longer offer …

Hope everyone who attends has a good time, shame I can’t be there – work gets in the way sometimes. ?

To reiterate, my post was an observation not an attempt to start a revolution. smile

There has always been a lot of chat about forming another club. I feel that the TVRCC has done its best to bring all of the TVRs to gather...mainly in in Sprint in the last few years. Yes,there is always room for another group, but, will it work?
I hope that the club will be at the pre80s show next year to show support.
Having a classic already, I will be the first in line to export a modern Griffith!

Guys if you want to start a thread on an alternative TVRCC club/forum then please start another thread, don't just derail this one.

I'll give it a few hours and I'll prune this thread to get it back on topic.

Posts go off topic all the time Al, the same way as over regulated forums soon become quiet, don't you think this forum is becoming over regulated?

Not sure l agree here, the club stand only had two M/pre-M cars and l was certainly happy to see that particular Grantura there. Also, l don't think that all of the cars on all of the stands were perfect.

Perhaps l'm just too keen on patina??

The odd one or two cars over the last few years have been committee members ( I think Mervyn's was on last year and mine was on a few years ago) but they're mostly from the local region. The reasoning for that is that the cars have less distance to travel in November weather and the owners can go home if they want of an evening.

A few years back we were short of a couple of cars because of dreadful weather and traffic which meant they just didn't make it to the NEC in time. This year's mix was from all over the country and yes folk do need to volunteer and Ralph did post in the TVRCC forum to ask for cars.

Folk dis-enfranchise themselves from the club and the magazine by not participating or not contributing articles despite frequent requests for content. Andrew I know has an article in waiting for a while but that's been held over to give the magazine balance as we've had a good selection of articles submitted after our recent requests for content.

The problem is very few of those articles are submitted by owners of cars who regularly read or submit content to this forum.

There is no bias or grudge against any era or model of TVR just an unwillingness of some who have some beautiful completed projects or great knowledge in general who won't put pen to paper for the mutual benefit of all.

Several reading this will know I've asked them repeatedly for content and what have I received?????

Complaining on a forum doesn't help, sending something to david[dot]hothersall@griffitheditor[dot]co[dot]uk does.

I await the deluge wink

David,
I'm in no position to complain. What I tried to make clear in my post was this was my observation.

I have spoken with a few folk about the stand and their views were that the stand was poor.

John. You couldn't be more incorrect. The stand was fabulous. It had lovely blue carpet. Professional banners, lovely stainless trimmed roped barriers. Nice cabinets and display boards.

I'm sure those are the same folk are the ones who always stand on the sidelines shouting their 'opinions' and criticise others while making no effort themselves. If they think they can do better they know what to do........ ah but of course they'll be too 'busy' won't they?

You can't please everyone and by the nature of a show such as this with limited space cars that folk think should be there won't be.

While I quoted you John I was making general observations about 'opinions' and attitudes.
