Probably it would have been one like this...

I should think.

The Taimar is a different directional flow fan wheel to the Vixen and if it fitted in the footwell the plastic version, (they are colour coded) the wheel is not TOO difficult to swap, if you have not got one to start with then...it is difficult

The old one I took out of mine was plastic, past it and i threw it (I was young at the time). Im not paying £270 for a new one though, no matter how good it is. That Holden one does look the bees though.
Land Rover come to mind? Think Ill have a Google.

The plastic versions allow the motor to be 'handed' for either R/H or L/H and for the version that you are looking for it 'could be' that the metal version would fit (so triumph), but as I said some will need to feed back with the colour of the wheel (as this determines if you thrash at or pump air) as I'm not up for stripping a car down to look!
Because of the housing being plastic they normally have little reason for being removed, (the motor assemble unscrews from inside the car) so normally you would just swap/repair a motor, my Vixen racer has a lightweight computer fan in the housing, so it is not OE.

I've got a 'plastic' one in the cupboard, pm me if interested (I'll throw in, for free, a knackered metal one for parts...)

This GRP housing was all that was left of my heater system when I bought my car. It looks as if it once housed a blower motor and I assumed it was original TVR but have never seen another like it so perhaps a home-made job?

I decided against fitting a big, heavy and inefficient Smiths heater (same snail blower as fitted to early midgets) so I opted for a modern black box aimed at the kit car market. It's a very small combined matrix and blower, is small, light and cheap and IMHO would not be too conspicuous in any classic car engine bay. I accept it isn't 'correct' but it works for me.

I fitted a boat bilge blower inside the 4 inch flexible trunking.

Inconspicuous and works just fine.

In Talking with Adrian the later type as fitted to the Taimar and the 3000s and mounted on the bonnet will not work for that aplication

It might be worth checking with this manufacturer.

Towards the bottom of the page it states

'If you need more help with heater parts just e-mail me'

Hi Dollyman.
A little of record, but can you deliver a better pic of the support for the steering column?
I am looking for the easiest or neatest solution.

The fuse/relais box looks like a computer, also very nice but not easy.
That's something for another thread about pre-80 electrics

Thanx.
Hans

I got a 'kit car' one for mine (S3) which was pretty small, but different in detail to the one shown. I guess anything small should be useable - I think the original was a mix of Triumph and MGB bits (all BL anyway). Mine has a square box in GRP on the bulkhead, where the matrix went, and the new unit fitted neatly inside that box, so it's effectively invisible.

Got mine given to me in a plastic bag in 1990 when I bough the Taimar and never had one since. Drove it daily for 8 years - challenge was an understatement.
