Best Chris,
Very nice job in the interior.
My headlining vinyl and carpet is coming so I start the same jobs.
Hope to get it doen as you did.

I am just puzzling the detailing of the B post where ceiling is meeting the side panel.
Seen many pictures but still not made up my mind what is best or easier to make.
Any detailing with pics in that aerea?

Hans

What you did in the last months took me years, must be the age.
I haven't got round to fitting this area at the moment as I still need access behind the lower part of the roof lining to fit the badges and fix the lower trim for the vinyl top as these are just put in place at the moment.
Hopefully I will get some of the carpet back from the trimmers and get this area sorted this coming weekend if I do I will post some pictures up.
Chris

Just caught up with this thread. Congratulations - super job. Just a thought but you might find modifying an existing kit car loom with bare wires easier and much cheaper than buying a ready made one. I originally ordered a ready made loom that was supposedly made for my Vixen but half of it was superfluous. I guess this might not be the case for the M series models. The ready made fuse/relay unit looks like a neat bit of kit. Keep at it Chris!

Cheers Tom I should be ok with the wiring on the ML as it's pretty much ok. But when I get round to the Vixen I will need a full rewire so will look into the kit car looms.

Hi Chris.
Even not finished still good detailing for me.
I will use vinyl along the B- post where you used carpet.
Also the wheelarch will be vinyl.

Keep the good work going.

I will start with the ceiling tomorrow with help of a friend.
And cutting the carpets so they can be finished on the edges with vinyl.

Hans.

As per a previous post I put on about trying to find a bottom radiator hose. Anyway the only one I could find available was in Germany and the cost would have been the best part of £100 delivered. I got an email from Steve who gave me some info about making your own from parts available over here.

Parts I used were a top and bottom radiator hose from a Mk2 Capri 3.0 V6£20 1/2 meter of stainless steel tube £5 and 4 Jubilee clips £2 total £27

The pipes

I had also bought some time ago a pipe swaging tool from ebay I think it was about £40 and used this on the tube

I cut down the Capri bottom hose and used that from the water pump to the SS tube I used part of the top hose for the radiator to SS pipe and what was left I used to wrap around the area where the hose touches the chassis to avoid it rubbing.
End result

Hope this may help someone who also needs the same.
Chris

Now the bottom hose is sorted I managed to get the car up and running. I had a few issues first one being the carb would overflow I tried replacing all the parts float, shut off valve etc etc all to no avail. Anyway it turned out to be the new fuel pump was giving to much pressure once this was replaced it was all good.

The engine fired up and runs ok on choke until it's warm but would not idle off choke a bit of popping and banging from the exhaust but good oil pressure no smoking and no unwanted noises so really happy.

Carb. The engine is a standard bore but with big valve heads (37mm exhaust 46mm inlet) fully ported and polished and Piper HR 270 cam. The carb is the standard 38dgas with standard jetting and the exhaust is a JP stainless system.

As a best guess subject I know to tunning what is the best carb set up. Change the 38 for a 40 or get the 38 re jetted to suit which jets to go for? any help would be great.

Bit of an update. Things are coming on nicely now and its starting to look like a car rather than a pile of bits. I've now fitted the doors and all internals locks electric window motors latches and catches etc plus the sunroof is now put together and fitted along with the bonnet windscreen and some of the lights. Still to do is most of the electrics fuel tank some plumbing of fuel lines and heater matrix rear window and most of the interior. Still hoping to have it done and on the road for the pre 80's so fingers crossed all the rest goes well.

Managed to get my hands on a set of NOS side repeaters

This is the tax disc that was still in the window when I got the car which I have preserved

Well bar a few details and engine and suspension setting up its pretty much finished.
Would appreciate your opinions on the door mirror Adrian has confirmed that this is the correct one my dilemma is they only had one on the drivers side I have a pair so do I fit the passenger one or leave stock?

A few pictures

great, and if you would ask me, yes I also would fit the other mirror, gives it more 'balance' and almost a must when you go to other countries.

Nice looking result.
And yes 2 mirrors needed for symmetry reason.

What are you doing for suspension setting??

Looks absolutely brilliant inside & out! But do add the extra mirror as cars look odd with one, old or new. Plus it's essential on today's roads I would argue . An absence of air bags & buffer zones mean a V6 powered motor need all the protection aids it can get !
