A full day and all I got done was to refit the one door with all its internals latches and catches etc. An easy job that should have taken an hour or so the biggest task was refitting the electric window internals as the lower window channels had to be modified so ended up taking back to bits several times before I could get it working properly. At least I now know what to do whan it comes to the other side so that should be a lot quicker.

Would appreciate your opinions please on the wheels

First up are the original Wolfrace slot mags

next up a set of Minilite style wheels

The Minilite wheels are the wrong offset so will need longer wheel studs and a 1/2" spacer the wolfrace will need new tyres.

Cheers Chris

Wolfies all day long. Minilites just don't look correct on M series cars, especially wrong offset ones.
Very personal but I hate black alloys or even worse the latest fad which seems to be shadow chrome!!
Its only my opinion though..your car. I suppose its like asking if you fancy Cameron Diaz with or without her glasses on !! smile

Got the head lining and vinyl roof back from the trimmers today so had a go at fitting the head lining, not a job I was looking forward to but it all went fairly well.

The lower creases will disappear when its pulled taut at the bottom but I need to fit the vinyl roof first.

Tomorrow hopefully will get the vinyl roof fitted

Cheers guys. The clips were under a fiver and made the job so much easier because you could make all the adjustments to get rid of the creases by simply adjusting the clips. When it came to glueing the edges in I simply removed one clip glued then replaced the clip took a lot longer but the results were worth it.
Hopefully I should have pictures of the vinyl roof fitted this evening.

Hats off..I like oily bits and not sure I would even attempt a headlining..My old fellas vixen has 2 cross rails for the headlining which require stitching in..I take it an M headlining doesn't because of the sun roof? Are the M head linings without sunroofs similar or do they have 2 cross rails?

on my 1600M with a glass sunroof it has 2 hoops to support headlining.
I know it has 2 hoops because i made them from kunifer brakepipe.
Then a Professional trimmer made a black headlining from scratch and fitted it

They have 2 small rods either side of the sunroof that need stitching in. I got these done by a local trimmer.

Bit the bullit and ripped all the old wiring out. My eldest son Christopher is taking the reigns now and working on the tub, filling holes, repairing panels with a veiw to stone chip the underside, paint the engine bay then mount the body back on the chassis fully.

We might have a go at the rewire ourselves or get someone to come and do it at my place, whats your opinion of the rewire task?

You can get a loom made up at Auto sparks for about £350 but will need some modifying to fit individual cars. The wireing in mine is not to bad but I will probably end up replacing a lot of it, plus you can also get rid of a couple of kilos of wire that either doesn't do anything or travels twice round the car to connect to a switch 3 inches away. If you havn't already got one get a power probe it will help a lot when rewiring http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-PPX-Auto-Probe-Pl...

Car builder solutions do a pre wired module which does take a lot of the headache away..Still need to buy the wires and make up the loom though!!

Best Chris,
Very nice job in the interior.
My headlining vinyl and carpet is coming so I start the same jobs.
Hope to get it doen as you did.

I am just puzzling the detailing of the B post where ceiling is meeting the side panel.
Seen many pictures but still not made up my mind what is best or easier to make.
Any detailing with pics in that aerea?

Hans

What you did in the last months took me years, must be the age.
