The Triumph 2.5 is probably the worst engine ever fitted by TVR, IMHO (I own one). Unless you value originality above all else, I'd fit something different.

There is nothing wrong with a nicely set up Triumph TR 2500 engine IMHO.
OK mine has been rebuilt with many modified and upgraded/lightened parts fitted to it and fuel is supplied via 3 twin 40s.

On the last rolling road test it was pushing 150bhp and that was at the rear wheels but it just goes to show what sort of power output that these engines are capable of and in a light car such as this is pretty damn quick well for me anyway. laugh

Happy x-mas Mr Bannister.

One of these is better than one of those light cast iron heavy breathing old crossflows…And cheaper.

I found your missing Hex key? biggrin

Very lovely, and there are ways of getting them to make plenty more power, and sound even better. Good choice, it truly is a beautiful engine.

Best,
B.

Richard, they glued 2 extra cylinders on the old tractor engine to make the six but I was heartened to learn that it had its origins in the aircraft industry http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_wet_liner_...
I always feel there's something lacking in a four cylinder engine, i.e. It's two cylinders short of a proper engine!

Frame back from the blaster today, some corrosion that I hadn't spotted before but all very localised, it seems to have rusted from the outside in rather than the other way round. Some kinked tubes to cut out and replace too, God knows how the damage occurred, think someone was using it as an Acrow Prop...

Last bit of welding done and a coat of primer. New front stub axles on order and then she'll be rolling (when I've decided whether or not to replace the quill shafts ) then it's onwards and upwards with the engine build.

Looks like your making very swift progress there. Would love to see a full restoration thread on the car with lots of pictures. I am just doing a 3000ml but have a 69 Vixen that I will be doing when this is finished.

Thanks Chris, wantt to get the frame rolling as I'm pushed for space; my poor GT6 is out in the frost at the moment. I'm a bit sad the welding' s done now, was quite enjoying splicing in bits of new tube.
