For those who have one fitted. Where an earth can you/ should you fit one? Rear/ front? Under chassis, engine bay? I've looked but no where looks suitable.
Any ideas?
Regards.

Rover 200 / 25 diesel inertia switch is easier.
We have a facet in the boot bolted as low as possible onto the rear inner arch. The main earth can then be very short and pick up on an outrigger tube end suitably drilled and tapped, although we do have multi earth paths.

Get one from a scrappy with wire and multi plug still attached.

From what I remember from my MG days, the SU pumps come in two types - (relatively) high pressure ones that need to be mounted at the rear close to the tank and low pressure ones that need to me mounted in the engine bay.

If you put a low pressure one in the back, it will struggle to pump fuel to the carbs.

If you put a high pressure one in the engine bay, you'll probably have lots of problems with flooding and may well burn the pump out prematurely.

Vintage cars like MG TCs has low pressure pumps in the engine bay. More modern MGBs and chrome bumpered Midgets had higher pressure ones at the rear.

It is generally considered that high pressure ones at the back are more efficient and are less likely to suck air.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi and yes. I have one of those solid state facet pumps. I want to get a decent filter in there too. Is a regulator worth wile? I have twin SUs. It's not a racer.
So looks like in the engine bay somewhere then.
Regards.

The best pump to use is the SU "high' pressure pump certainly if you use also the SU carburettors, you don't want more then 4 PSI fuel pressure for these carbs, and the pump should be fitted as close to the tank as possible. An inertia switch as shown is used in fuel injection vehicles they use a much higher fuel pressure and fuel flow then a carburetted engine, I would never fit one.

So 1 near the tank and 1 in the engine bay..... I might put mine near the gear box. Half way, out of the way.

I've got a solid state Facet under the tank cover and it is noisy as hell (the ticking noise at the red light is the fuel pump)

I might replace it with a Facet Redtop or an SU, but might mount it outside the car. Where were the fuel pumps mounted originally?

This is the Facet mounted. Mounted on rubber mounts.

Hoping its quieter than the holley blue race pump which can be heard over the V8

The original pump for the 2500 is mechanical and as already stated, bolts to the (passenger) side of the engine.

As for SU pumps, the 'high' pressure ones need to go at the back near to the tank and low pressure ones in the engine bay.

This isn't much of a pic sorry, but you can just make out the pump between and underneath the last two spark plugs
