Has anyone bought new chrome or Stainless bumpers recently for period fittment and if so, how pleasing was the product in terms of quality and fit?

Suplpier would be good too.

Any real issues would be probably better e-mailed rather than getting involved with name and shame policy breach.

Many thanks.

They do Alan, and I think they supply D&G.

Car has no bumpers at the moment and I would like to retain the original bumper type.

I'm aware folk fit the early chrome bumpers on later cars and I was concerned that the new make bumpers were a kind of a hybrid (attemptiing to fit both early and later cars quite well, but in doing so not fitting the early cars as they should..)

are these chrome/stainless bumpers just a replacement for the black ones, I have a set of black ones here somewhere from the Taimar, I`ll have a look into making a set at some point if there is a demand for them at the right price of course.

Hi Clive,
They are slightly different to those fitted on the Taimar. Cost at the moment for a new set is close to £700

hi John, so are the taimar and 3000m ones different, or are you referring to earlier cars, vixens etc?

thanks Adrian, so basically you could make them to fit either flush, or sat off the body using spacers, but the key being changes made to the body, sounds like a manufacturers nightmare, making it an almost individual custom made part.

interesting, I`ll have a close look at my cars body work and see whats viable, I`ve got to make a set for my own car anyway at some point.

Thanks for the offer Adrian. Car is in primer at the moment, so I'm going to go down the route of buying the Harrington items and will make minor mods as necessary. smile

please keep us upto date, sounds interresting.
2 of the rubber bumpers on my 3000s have splits caused by rusting of internal metal parts

hi TVRMs,
i wonder if you could update me about the results of the Harrington Bumpers please.
I have a 3000S and a 3000M but only one set of Rubber Bumpers.
I need a set and some stainless ones from Harrington would look very nice on the 3000S.
Thanks in advance and some photos would be great

Alan,
Have to say I'm hugely disappointed.

The Harrington bumpers will fit a later car very well.

Sadly, they do not fit the car they were intended for (early M) without a bit of work to the body. In my case they were bought to fit a 1972/3 M, hence the disappointment.

Bodywork on my car has now been adapted to fit the miss-sold items and I'm quite happy with the results, an expensive exercise all round however..

In Fairness the rears fitted good on the back of mine fronts i was going to do some adjustments on but then was offered an original Rubber set so have those on at the Moment.
I suppose i could have got a fiberglass set but when i was getting fed up with people moaning they are not original i was certainly no going to fit fiberglass and then everyone say they are still not original wink

Still not sure which i prefer

My 1976 3000M has no bumpers so needs a set.
I will not change the bodywork to suit the Bumpers that's for sure.
So if i buy grp copies at least i can adjust them if needed.

Non original, homemade "cut down" fibreglass..... couldn't give a sh#t what everyone says tongue out

They "match" the non original indicators (sidelights in headlights)
