Hi,

I have put an offer on the car. I am waiting on a response back from the owner. So fingers crossed, I will be the owner shortly.

I will be having it restored by my trusted TVR mechanic in Berkshire www.wiltonmorgan.co.uk

I was curious if anyone had any info on the car, I have contacted several people to try and build the history back up, unfortunately I now have been told that Kenneth Booth (ken) who sold the car last passed away in 2012. I will see if I can get hold of his family members and see what they might know as ken had a brother and let them know that i'm hoping to bring the car to Blightly and restore Ken's old car.

Peter Filby is writing a book on TVR's in competition so may have some information.

Do you intend to restore the car for road or competition.

If you dont get the info off forums like this try contacting the TVRCC or David Gerald. If you get the car you can request info off DVLA using form V888, it costs a fiver, then contact previous owners and see if they can fill in the blanks in the cars history.

just came across it, looks like a nice car to restore, originally with that black/vinyl roof, is that gone? it does have something the way it was on the earlier pictures, with that black-ish roof and luggage-rack
on the rear :-) good luck with the buy.

I'm not sure if you have found more information on this car but I have just found some info on a Harry O Brien racing a Red / Black TVR at Oulton Park in Sept 1962. On the Autosport forum Harry's son Steve also mentions that he raced an open TVR for Shoe String Racing at either Rufforth or Catterick . I've found other entires for Harry O Brien in a Lotus Seven entered by Thor Garage. Shoe String Stable also entered a red Climax engined TVR for S Gleave at Oulton in June 1961.

it appears a Ken Booth raced a Lotus 7 at Oulton in June 1961 and GR Booth raced a Ford engined TVR Grantura in the same race as Ken but this car was Blue.

Harry O Brien, Ken Booth and S Gleave may have been friends or had a loose association - I'll see if I can find out more.

Do you know the chassis number it may help to see if it was a Climax or Ford engined car.

Thank you - unfortunately the B engine doesn't narrow down the car to entries I've found.

I may be able to contact Steve o Brien for info.

No worries.
No one said that it had to have a BMC power plant? Wonder If someone switched out the lump?
Best,

Hi.

I did not purchase the car in the end. But I have over 25 photos of the car and the export documents. Last owner was KEn as per the export document.

Anyone interested in buying it? I could try and see if it's still for sale?

I'd be interestied in the contact details so I can see if I could find out a bit more of the early racing history.

Do you have any photos of the engine bay / chassis.
