Hello,

a friend of me in New Zealand owns a Vixen 2500.
The Chassis No. = 2011TE (see pic)
We are wondering about the "E" in the number. Any idea?

No idea what the E means, but my 2500 has the same. Engine number does not even match.
Regards.

As far as I know, the engine numbers for the detoxed, detuned TR6 engine fitted to the TVR 2500s ended in an 'E'. Also, I believe that most if not all chassis plates were hand scratched / etched. As this chassis plate is stamped it is possible that it is a replacement. If this is the case, it is also just about possible that when it was stamped, the 'E' was put at the end of the wrong number. Just a guess though.

Great to see another 2500. Any chance of some more pics?

Cheers,

Chris

I've been trying to track, down the owner of Vixen 2011TE for the last 9, months or so. I bought the car in spring 1975 in Bozemen, Montana and sold it in spring 1983. The car went to North Dakota at that time.

I don't think the E wa for a detuned 2.5 motor as it reved free to at least 7000 RPM. If anyone knows how to contact the present owner please let me know, really wondering how it got so far from here

It is on the TVR Vixen registry:

http://www.tvr.at/

Looks like it went to NZ in 2005. Photos show it on Minnesota plates. There are contact details for an owner there but not sure if they are current details or out of date.

TE refers to Triumph engine car. Some simply had the T.
