Hi, iam trying to help my friend with her TVR Gratura 62 model smile
Her husband has passed and I know nothing of pommy cars frown

Can someone tell me the socket size for the single nut holding the front spoke wheels on, as one is flat?

cheers Bernie

Can't help with the size but is there not something like this tucked away somewhere in the car (along with a jack and a hammer)?

Failing that just measure across the flats of the nut to get size, although they could well be eight sided, not six like a "normal" nut.

confused

Think we've lost something in translation, thought you meant a big nut like this holding the wire (spoked) wheel on ?

Hi there
no , she has a trident as well with that big nut on outside.
But the TVR wheels have "spinners" which I unscrewed.
Now as mentioned there is a 6" hub with a huuge nut in deep on the spline?
bigger than 1"

Thought yu guys would know straight away, so I don't have to buy half a dozen sockets smile
cheers Bernie (from southend, now in Brisbane aust)

Adrian@ said:
by the sound of it you are trying to undo the flange to quill shaft nut within the actual wheel spinner flange!

Wheel bearing nut? but then there should be a split pin through it, shouldn't there?

Once the spinner is off, there should be nothing to secure the wheel to the splined stub. It may be corroded, or it could be binding against worn splines. Of course, the grease may have petrified, by now.

Best regards,
Bernard.

Good point Mike, it is a castellated split pinned nut, it would spin if enough force was put on it though. AND, too true, Bernard.

Thanks Bernard, hey good name smile
So just the spinner holds the wheel on ? frown

For the record, ive been working on Falcon GT's Mustangs and 100's of other Fords in last 35 years smile
I never work on pommy cars, so no nothing of them.

Il spray some WD40 around and try removing the wheel.
thanks Bernard
