Off to Oulton Park for the Gold Cup meeting this weekend then Donington weekend after. Hoping for something less like offshore powerboat racing than the Silverstone Classic although forecast doesn't look great. Plenty of TVRs (Griffiths apart from me) in the Guards GT race at Oulton if anyone is planning to come. Qualifying Saturday, race Sunday.
Have a great weekend DaveN.
Richard was racing in Holland the Classic Grand Prix.
Nobody wrenching on his car in the hours before the race see pics. Most of the other drivers do.
Was he in the pub for a limonade ?(was hot)
Just spoke to him a few words waiting to go on track. Not the right time for a social talk.
His driving was great, passed several cars and his major rival (his story) the Morgan within the first round.
Without any noise he cut through the field.
Some impressions;
It's very tight, and yes I have a planetary gear build into the steering column, so it's 1.9 turn lock to lock.
Power is there, but I have to work on the control :-) Driveline is ok.... but I'm nervous :-)
So winter plan include a 3x ducati 848 ITB manifold with shower injection (plans to follow), front ARB needs to be a lot stiffer, so I planning to make a solution with replaceble spring with bolt on arms.
Big thing is gearbox, perhaps a going for a T5 with close ratio, but looking for a sequential solution. Perhaps converting a 7 speed BMW SMG from automatic to manual.
Engine just needs a full check, and perhaps some better rods and pistons if the wife will sponsor :-)
And cabin needs to finish up, new sunroof have to be made, and variable backpresure vale in the exhaust, antispin in the ECU and my newest invention, a 2 channel breake pressure instrument with datalogging in the ECU.
And implementing wireless network in the car (for cable less ECU connectino and mobile phone data logging incl GPS)
:-)
so only a couple of minor projects

Great to see you having fun with it. Richard
Data logger power supply played up but here is some GoPro action from race 1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KyUM5x0xWI
Cheers
You do like you're up grades some of which I have not a clue about mainly tec electrics. Hopefully by fitting engine and g box as a tuned unit with shall we say enough power I will not need to upgrade. But I'm not racing. But I'm sure you are loving it and that's the main thing. Richard
Had a good day at Silverstone. Some new cars out in the Swinging Sixties

Not exactly racing but flying the flag for old TVRs this weekend at the Chateau Impney hill climb. Went as a spectator last year and had a great day out then got an invite to compete so couldn't say no. Never done a hill climb before and the class I'm in looks seriously fast so no great expectations but will have fun. Last year TVR was represented by Ivan Dutton in the freshly restored ex-John Woolfe TVR AUD10 which has a separate thread on it as it is for sale (as featured in a certain classic car mag).
If you are around come and say hello and wish me luck!
Cheers
Dave
