Vixen/Grantura Door Locking Mechanism
Discussion
You are quite right Adrian. I have some new handles as the old ones are in very poor shape, and these come with the small keepers, which are bolted to the door, via a countersunk machine screw.
I think I have all the bits, having cleaned all the crud out of the mechanism and identified how it works. I will probably need a new lock barrel though.

I was considering drilling and tapping the ends of my door handles as the keepers are not in good shape (unable to find replacements) and people try to turn the handle rather than pushing in the button, which is damaging the keepers further.
Hi Kit, how's the 1800s?The handles were used on a number of cars on period, iin addition to the S8/10, ncluding Turners, Triumph Mayflowers, and the Nash metropolitan. There is a guy in the states who supplies Metropolitan parts. He does new handles and he can also supply the keepers at a reasonable price. He doesn't do locks though!
The Standard Vanguard Owners club also do them, but they are a bit sniffy about dealing with non SV owners and you need to join the club to access their parts supply, which I suppose is fair enough.

IF your Standard 10 four door needs a few parts ....ebay is your friend, 141611837420...perhaps the 4 door might yield two good handles/ and a few keeps....his number is in that listing. (you two should get together).
I'd not mention TVR though.

I Bought brand new handles from the Standard owners club for my vixens1. Problem is you need a membership to buy from their website. I've got the old ones in plastiv bag if anyone needs pictures. The new ones are of similar design, but I believe they are made of Aluminium and not the original poor material (forgot its name).
