Series one and early series two switches

I've discussed these a couple of time before on here.

The early Vixens used Lucas 31828 and 34426 switch gear. The switches a re easily found and still available new I think, but not with the correct toggles



They are supposed to have small decals on them like this,



but all of mine have lost their stickers

I have found a source of new stickers, but I would like to know whether they are the right ones. Some of them e.g. wipers, clearly are different





If anyone still has stickers on their switches could they please post up a photo of what you have?

Hi Matt. sorry but can't help with which wiper decal might be original as I'm missing both the wiper and washer decals. All the others look identical to those in your photo.

Thanks a lot. I haven't found a washer decal, but I did order the page of decals from the Maserati club international, I think they were about $10 plus postage.

I have a load of these switches knocking about, some with and some without decals..
Early jags had them as well.. They are probably worth a few bob these days..

I will have a look tonight and see what I have.

These large chamfered toggle switches are a Lusas part, and are the same as used on my Maserati Mexico and the Mk 1 Interceptor. Also found on a few other Alfa Romeo's from the 1960's as well as the Aston Martin DB5.



A full sheet of the decal stickers are available from McGrath Maserati.

If you want to go very posh, the Aston Workshop in Beamish has made some nice chrome toggles to convert ordinary Lucas toggle switches but at £68 each, you'd have to really want them.

Also, if it helps. Here is the extract from the original Maserati factory wiring diagram which includes the Lucas part numbers for each of the Mexico toggle switches. As you'll see, some of the 1 and 2 stage switches have different internal connection so be careful if you are swapping these around.

For example, I don't have the original spec wiper switch on my car and it's thrown the operation out to a point where the wipers don't have their second speed, and won't park!



Note, the reason there are 2 fan switches, is that the early cars had a 2 speed de-mist fan for the windscreen, and a second single speed de-mist fan mounted under the rear parcel shelf for the back window.

Thanks very much Matt for the offer of the wiper decal - have sent you a PM. Also thank you Neil for the offer although I have all the switches - now just missing the washer decal (but not sure the washers ever had one).

I think you are right in that these switches are getting rare so probably worth flogging to raise money for your next racing suit! You're bound to need a new one once you get on the Atkins diet to increase bhp/tonne ratio .

I did find a box of fluted switches at the Beaulieu Auto Jumble a few years back. They weren't switches I required but I needed the toggles - just wish I had bought as few more for spares. I just knocked the roll pins out and swapped the fluted toggle for the flat toggle which is obviously still plentiful. Sometimes if you are careful you can pull of the plastic bit but I was afraid of breaking them.

You will find that Maserati switch is a 4 pin i found one at Beaulie last year for a fiver but when we went to wire it we found that to make the park work it needed the 5 pin so ordered an MGB Lucas switc and with a little help with the heat gun switched the toggle over

So as far as I can tell, I am supposed to have
Headlight
Side light
Fan
Washer pump and
Wipers

I am missing one of them All I need to find out now is whether the washer pump had a spring loaded, press/release type switch or a standard one, and what the icon looked like!

reverse light

Just the Five as said the adjustment from side to high to dip in that order is on the stalk
