Just a little hello and a small contribution from DK.

I am the proud owner of a 1974 TVR 3000M, chassis no. 2921FM. Car is cream white with black interior and in a very original condition. I imported the TVR from London in the autumn 2013.

The car is mechanically in a good shape with the engine rebuilt 4-5 years ago. It is running very fine with good oil pressure and no temperature issues. Starts on the button every time. The car has a luminition electronic ignition. The first job was to refurb the interior with new carpets all round and the original seats have just had the frames rebuilt, new padding and a high quality leather covering (cost me 1500 Euro alone). The car also had a new leather Mountney steering wheel.

Next up in a new alloy fuel tank with fuel lines etc. I am also renewing the cooling system with new silicone hoses a new coolant expansion tank - also in alloy + water pump and maybe an alloy radiator - anyone know if the RADTEC is worth the money?

Engine compartment will also get new rocker covers in alloy with the inscription "TVR" + Magnecor 8,5 mm ignition leads + a big service.

Last but not least I will start working on the electrics - I HATE electrics - But have no rear lights at the moment and no indicators as well!

And then it will be of to MOT and hopefully get road legal here in DK..

Future plans - well the car is in generally a very good and original condition, but I have plans about fitting a servo and a BMW steering rack. Maybe even a Zetec engine with webers. Lets see about that later on...

Looks stunning love the seats white is the best colour but I may be a bit biased lol. Hope you keep the Essex engine in it. The wireing in the boot is more than likley a poor earth issue but best to replace the lot if you can. Also if you can get them change the plastic bulb holders for the earlier metal ones that came out of the ford cortina mk2 much better quality.

As Chris52 says, the light issue is likely a bad earth. I recently had a very similar issue and it was poor earth connections on the switches & gauges behind the dash.

It looks very pretty in white with wolfies - and the early bonnet with side vents. smile

Thanks guys! I am suspecting earth connections to be failing... I will get back to that. Did take one seat out again and have remove the rear carpets etc. Not much room back there!

Regarding the Wolfrace wheels. They are pretty, yes - but not round and it is pretty difficult to get a decent set of tyres in 14". So I already have a set of 6x15" + 7x15" Revolution 5-spoke wheels to replace them:

Love those wheels and trying to find a way to get them in the US. What offset are you using?

Nice car, well done Morten !

This is what the Revolutions will look like on the car:

Do like the look of what you've done to the bucket seats....

Re the electrics; you will find that adding an extra ground cable to the rear pickup point (from the battery) will solve a lot of your woes (beefy, say 5 mm²) I've renewed the cables to both rear and front, which is a big help also...

You'll have so much fun, on your belly in the car !

grtz, Frank

Looks great with the Revolutions !!!

Due to too many other projects I am considering selling the TVR. If any interest, PM me.

Morten,

Please be so kind as to provide information on the fuel tank. As in, from whom did you purchase it, is the shape/capacity as per original, what is the cost, . . . etc.

Thank you,
Bernard.

Also on the ground next to the tank you have what looks to be a new swirl pot for your cooling system. Did you have it made? or did you buy it off the shelf.
Any info would be appreciated.

than you

Was a little stressed up until x-mas. Was awake thinking last night and now I am pretty sure - the TVR will stay in my ownership. Thanks!

The alloy fuel tank was produced by the original drawings and cost me c. 500 Euro including shipment to Denmark. It is made by a guy in Holland. I can arrange for you contact info, if you PM me.

The swirl pot for the coolant system was made by: http://www.scimitar-tvrcentre.nl/tvr/3000-m/koelsy...

2921 FM will stay in my garage - so spend last night figuring out a list of To Do's:

- Sort out electrical system with better earth connections
- Install fuel tank and lines
- Source a front brake upgrade - anyone who can recommend a setup?
- Mount new cooling system including swirl pot, radiator etc. I really like the alloys - anyone running a Radtec?
- Upgrade steering rack to BMW with servo
- Decide on 15" tyres
- Clean up engine bay with new cables, rocker covers etc.
- Maybe new shocks and dampers - considering Protech or Avo coilovers - would like to drop ride height just a little bit

In between - after electrics and fuel I should be ready for a Danish MOT / Taxation, which will set me back with 18-1900 GBP!

Will keep you posted on progress - but any advice regarding suspension, brake upgrade and radiator would be much appreciated !

Just stumpled across a few photos of my previous 3000M (3566FM), year 1976. Car is still in DK up north. So if the current white one is the salt of life, then this must be pepper:

Morten,

I've seen pictures on Mobile of your chassis, which looks excellent !

Re front brakes, there are upgrades, but I've found a new set of pistons and seals in the ori calipers, braided flexes and Ferodo DS2500 pads improves matters by quit a bit......

Nota lot has happened over X-mas, as least what concerns 2921FM. But now I am picking up speed. Parts are still dropping in, and soon there will be enough for a full makeover for the engine bay:

Also moved the car to a garage I have rented together with a friend. So now the TVR is in 'like minded' company with an Elan +2 and a Austin-Healey Frogeye - no PorschA's allowed!

Plan is to meet up at least on long night a week - to get some work done. I am starting with electrics and the new fuel system/tank...

Cheers
