What injectors for the Griff?
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I have tried the "search" facility but no answers.
My Griffith 500 had a high mileage when I bought it (90k) and to my knowledge the injectors have never been replaced.
It has had an engine rebuild and I am just looking to get the best out of it. I have seen injectors listed as being for all Rover V8 engines, but they are much cheaper than ones listed for the TVR on specialist websites.
What are the best/correct injectors for the Griff?
Thanks as ever!

I've bought these but not fitted yet. Straight replacement and slightly higher capacity and better spray pattern. You may need to check fuelling after fitting though:

I paid around £5 each and then had them cleaned and refurbed for £110.

Thanks, I wonder how much these are new - can't be that much more?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Vectra-B-2-0-16...

Some years ago the thinking was to replace the Lucas ones with Bosch injectors. The theory being that they produced a fine spray pattern as opposed to the Lucas ones that simply sprayed out drops of fuel. I don't know if the overall quality of injectors has improved in recent years.
I spoke to Mark Adams about injectors and he recommended the Bosch units because of the spray pattern. Very helpful bloke. Edited by G5FTH on Thursday 4th February 08:26

I'm not convinced that the 'finer spray pattern' argument holds much water, since the 14CUX injectors are batch fired indirectly into pulsing inlet runners. Flow rating and fuel pressure do make a difference, as does cleaning and balancing.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update really. I looked into various injectors and cutting a long and painful story short I have now fitted Bosch 0280150556 injectors.
Honestly this is the best hundred quid I have spent. These were refurbished units on Ebay from Portugal iirc.
Straight swap and the difference is instant.
The engine is more responsive and smoother especially at low revs.
I have done a few things to my Griff but this is the best mod I have done.
I must add however that my injectors were the originals and although I had an engine rebuild recently the mileage on the injectors must be 100k.

Jess, thanks for the interesting and tempting update, did you do any other mods at the same time, like 'up the fuel regulator'?Just an update really. I looked into various injectors and cutting a long and painful story short I have now fitted Bosch 0280150556 injectors.

FFG I don't know what you mean by your comment.
I bought refurbished units. They were stripped cleaned, new seals etc and flow matched to within a specific percentage.
I checked the fuel pressure prior to replacement and it was 3 bar. I know it should be 2.5 but it wasn't so I just replaced the injectors.

Apologies. Read the injectors had done 100k but they were the old ones - read it too quickly.I bought refurbished units. They were stripped cleaned, new seals etc and flow matched to within a specific percentage.

"Cutting a long and painful story short" makes me really curious since I'm on the same route as you. I see that the Bosch injectors you chose are much easier to get at a reasonable price compared to the Vectra ones (Siemens 90501588), supposedly because they're wide spread in the US and used in lots of Ford applications.
The Bosch ones have a bit lower flow rate that the Siemens ones, but I guess (and hope) enough for a slightly tuned Griff 500 (ACT triple plenum, Stealth cam, MS2 injection/ignition).
By the way, could this be a trustable supplier if I choose the Vectra ones after all:

The reason I say a long and painful story is that someone quoted a part number on here as a direct replacement, I bought them and the car ran like a bag of hammers. It turned out that the new ones had a flow rate of 370cc compared to the old ones at 200cc. I was flooding the engine with petrol. I returned those items, kicked myself for just ordering without investigating further and then spent hours on the net.The Bosch ones have a bit lower flow rate that the Siemens ones, but I guess (and hope) enough for a slightly tuned Griff 500 (ACT triple plenum, Stealth cam, MS2 injection/ignition).

I finally ordered these:

Hopefully the link works. I spoke to the seller by email who had supplied these as an upgrade for the rover v8 in various cars.
Btw the new ones are 215cc IIRC at 3 bar so a slight nip of the regulator is required.
