Thought I'd let you know (if you have a Grantura, Griff, Tuscan and I think possibly the M series cars), that UROGLASS has just made a new batch of 15 Heated screens for these cars.

I had the first of these and the rest should be available now.

They are very reasonably priced (£330ish), and nice guys to deal with. Not so much were you go to another old TVR supplier that buys up whole batches from them, then puts a Huge mark up on them (no names wink).

Not massively if you use fairly liquid and the some plastic tools (noting steel), though I have found a tame Window fitter that does work outside of the bigger company for cash in hand (£40).

I'd be interested to know who that was.

Just for the record, the only reason these were ever manufactured by Uroglas in the first place was because a small group of classic TVR owners from all over the world all dipped into their pockets and paid in full, well over a year before they saw any sign of a screen.

It was one other determined owner and I (from the south coast, names escapes me but he worked for Ericsson mobile) who organized the whole thing (which took a good 3 years total I seem to recall, around 2004 ish). Every single person who expressed an interest in the screens paid up when asked to do so, no excuses, no delays; amazing committed owners.

At one point we were short of about 5 orders, because Uroglas had a minimum order. We reached out to both the Classic TVR specialists, and the TVRCC, about funding the shortfall and none of them were the slightest bit interested.
The TVRCC was especially pathetic, desperately looking to find excuses about "storage" and "liability" "being very careful about how we spend club members money" while simultaneously spending £6K sponsoring a Le Mans car which rather conveniently got board members access to VIP areas and hospitality during the race ( I saw them in there).

Props to all those people who were willing to put their money where their mouth was; they made it happen.

BTW the screens fit all pre wedge cars (edit: except 3000s)

I was told this by the chap running Uroglass.

One company tends to buys BIG batches or the screens (then none direct via Uroglass), then hike the price Big time (as they have the only source then), not going to say who.

Nice to hear you are still about. Have you still got the TVR? I tried to get some rear screens made with Sean (Uroglass) and lent them my screen. It went all around the world but nobody could reliably manufacture them. Maybe things have moved along technology wise and we could try getting rear screens made? All the best, Jon (Now Ex-Ericsson).

So what do we do if we need a screen for our beloved 3000S if the screen breakseek
Pray that it never breaks.
Can a windscreen from a Jensen Healey or TR7 be used (brain storming a little)

There are screens made a person restoring a car at the moment has that issue the current screen that are available have a fit issue that requires the frame I believe modifying to make it fit correctly.
It will be interesting to see what his solution is in the end as it is a worry

11 heated screens remaining. They will pack and courier but obviously there's added cost.

I run a heated one Peter but was using 2 a year until I fitted a vinyl strip at the screen top. Last years racing was without the need to replace a screen.

Looks quite deep but its not in the eye line.
