Does anyone know where replacement Rocker switches can be found for a 1976 3000M.
They are iluminated with a chromed plastic surround. The hole size for they to fit in is 28mm x 43mm. Are they the same as for MGB's
thanks in advance
Alan

I believe the ones you mention are from a US Spec MGB-GT or Midget. There are some available on the US ebay site smile

I am sure that they are the same as used in many British cars from that area, I do carry some in our inventory for MGB and Midget, we are located in Canada so it is not exactly next door you should be able to find them closer to home.

Not quite easy to get. I'm not sure if Adrian can help...?
They were also used in Alfa Romeo Montreal,
but for different functions (except wiper).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALFA-ROMEO-MONTREAL-NEW-WI...

I just bought a Lucas switch for Austin (don't know which type) which
fits, but symbols are a litte different and without the green light element.
The UK located Ebay seller was called "autoelectricalspares" and the title was "lucas 39302 159SA wiper switch 2 speed for AUSTIN"
Can't find the switch on his current ads.
If you would like to watch a photo please tell me.

Maybe it helps...
Good Weekend!

Alan,

To ensure that everybody knows what you're matching, a picture would be helpful.

I also think Adrian@ would be your best source.

Best regards,
Bernard.

Those Alfa ones aren't correct. You can pick up individual ones off eBay and the like as below, but to get a matching set, best point to start would be Adrian.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGB-GT-73-76-MG-MIDGET-7...

These are the ones on my 76 3000M.

All the Siwches fitted to the 3000M are working at the moment but they have seen better days

If they're all working, and originality isn't important, I'd pop those out and rub-down the plastic 'chrome', mask off the rocker and paint with a nice gloss / satin black. It'll make a huge improvement.

This is mine and it's even worse....

I found some Switches from "Northwest Import Parts" BUT they don't export. Strange when it's parts for a MGB which was imported. Well maybe they don't need the business

Just a note, the MGB didn't use the full range so you'll not be able to get all the right switches from an MG supplier, I think they only used the wiper, headlight and hazard switches. The full range is like rocking horse poo as they were only used on Dennison Fire engines / busses (or something similar!).

It may be possible to take the chrome surround off those ebay reproduction ones and fit over the original Lucas parts if it absolutely has to be chrome but I don't think it's possible to easily swap over the actual green-illuminated rocker to 'make' a full set of new. As before, speak with Adrian at Exactly TVR to see what he has before ending up with a panel full of headlight switches.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Sorry but my first port of call was Adrian and he doesn't have any in stock. But can rework old switches. If "Northwest" could or will supply to Europe at least that would mean 75% of switches new as original for the following 30 years+.
What i am looking for is New or Old stock

Northwest do hazard/light/fan at least. My neighbour took them apart and fitted the old rockers for the others.

As I have been nudged several times..
I do have stock of NEW switches these are expensive, as these are created from 3 switches
ONLY for people who DO NOT have the switch already...
BUT as, the MG switches are a Lucar connector (not a pin version, that plugs straight on to your loom), do not have the window for the dash lamp to shine through and do not have the green diffuser tape, the new switches have decals that rub off instead of the heated imprinted version on the OE unit, I offer the rebuild to as new for a fraction of the new unit (I rebuild ALL of the Vixen and M series switches on the same basis).
Adrian@
I hope your better than that other Adrian that used to be on here, right tt he was! smile

I was going to suggest that, as well, having seen yours. Look at the standard Lucas replacements, for Jaguar XJ6. They have an integral light.

Best regards,
Bernard.

Like i said "Northwest" refuse to export. I sent an e-mail and asked them.
So dare i ask what 3 switches they can be made from even if the contacts at the back are round. Or is it "chase garder".
Do you think one of the TVR fans in the USA could act as a middle man and help us Brits outrolleyes

Just buy them off US eBay rather than seeking a middle-man. these guys will ship to the UK although the switches do look repro.
