Yep. Doesn't matter how stripped, lubed, sliders greased etc etc etc ..The difference in wear is staggering. Always accept the leading shoe to wear slightly more but I strip out bare leading linings to virtually new trailing ones…I was going to look at switching to MGB rear drums…Not accepting defeat and fitting discs at rear yet…. smile

Unless you can convert to or "adapt" a front brake twin leading shoe set up from something or other I think you'll be wasting your time... scratchchin

Trailing shoe does next to nothing whether you have sliding cylinder or fixed twin piston, imho.

Be careful if you are tempted to modify rear brakes to a TLS design. This was done at some point on Minis in the 60’s, I’m not sure if it was an official fitment or an aftermarket mod. Apparently the brakes were excellent when travelling forward, but useless in reverse because they became a no-leading-shoe design, and with the same on the front wheels the thing just didn’t want to stop even at low speeds. On a TVR with front discs this wouldn’t be a problem with the footbrake but I imagine that the handbrake would be very marginal if you parked nose up a hill.

If I am going Backwards on a circuit then something much more drastic will have happened… hehe

Handbrake might be the least of your worries at that point!
