I bought my TVR about 18 years ago, as a restoration project, after stripping the car, separating the body and chassis, blast, paint and all the rest that belongs to restore a vehicle I stopped working on the car.
Started my owns business including all the headaches involved with this, all of this about 15 years ago, here is the good news started again working on her, now here is my question is their any body who will know the history of this car, I bought her in Edmonton, Canada. The previous owner didn't know anything about the history either.
It was sold to me as a 3000M but they were officially never imported on the chassis plate there is no mention about a engine number, the engine fitted is a Ford 289 Hipo, can it be a 5000M????

If I have my information correct, the first 5000m conversions completed by John Wadman were in 1975/76. They also would have a 302 not a 289.
Sounds like a clone or earlier conversion.

Could be wrong.

Bert, Arthur,

As far as I remember, John and Doug built a couple of cars, after the initial run. A late, black car went to Sweden. All of them were equipped with 302s.

Best regards,
Bernard.

OK thanks for clarifying the V8 engine, would still like to know if somebody can give me more details about the history and if it is an 3000 or 2500M.

Generally FM is Ford motor, TM, Triumph.
I say generally because I think I read or heard somewhere there were some anomalies in the ident runs.

Hi,

I was just browsing through earlier threads on this forum and spotted the car number 2774FM and it rang a bell.

My car is 2775FM and i have a copy of the factory order sheet and looked up 2774FM

Originally built on 25th June 1973 as a 3000M and was left hand drive. It was white and ordered by Goodridge Racing and was delivered without engine, gearbox, wheels and tyres.

It doesn't say where Goodridge Racing is/was situated but it looks like they may have fitted the larger engine from the start.

Hopes that helps.

Now that is what I call good news, would it be possible to make a copy of the copy build sheet???
The engine in it is a 289 Hipo, transmission is BW T10 and I converted the diff. to the one from a Jag.
Car is still in the process of completion.

Thanks for the info.
