Hi,

On my Taimar info plate there is the paint code 29089 M60.
It's a mid metallic blue from the year 1978! Any idea how I can obtain some paint please? My local unipart does not have that code and I don't have a part I can take off the car to give them.

Cheers.

I'd try with Vauxhall Sapphire Starmist, as this was the metallic blue used on most M-series cars I've seen. Code should be an Ault & Wiborg one.

I had a car that colour in 1978 and the "M" I have now is that colour under the black that it is now painted ,it is I believe a Toyota colour.

Thankyou very much for your help, I shall pursue those references of Vauxhall and Toyota blues with my local paint store. I called TVR and they said Brown Brothers in Preston were the paint suppliers of that era.
Cheers!

Looked for Ault & Wiborg - they've been taken over by Spies Heckler and they couldnt help.
Called Halfords -was told they had the paint i required. Went in, didn't have it. So someone there was lying or didn't know what they were talking about. They offered me sapphire blue, cosmos blue, starmist blue!!
Just got through to Unipart. I am going to pick up some Vauxhall Sapphire Blue Starmist from them, code 4BL, and some lacquer.
Hope that works!

Just looked at this thread....Why didn't you go to a paint supplier that has a colour spectrometer (I think that is the way it is spelt) which is a radio sized unit that is placed on the car and it takes a reading from you paint faded car (3 or 4 places) and this is downloaded to a PC and regardless of the make/year/brand/anything! gives you a mix for the paint that is on the car. Hi Adrian,

Aye, thought about that but I have no painted part i can easily take to them. Dont fancy taking off a door or the bootlid. The car is stuck in my garage, so i cant take that, as i have half fitted the windscreen with the nice new rubber seal from a certain specialist. It's being a right b@st@rd to fit. 3 corners in but one will take a lot of persistence! Have you got a technique for this?

In the past I have just asked and my local supplier will pop in whilst passing.....screen rubbers like to very warm, I use a spacer heater and glass cleaner to lubricate and the correct tools ...Adrian@
PS I ALWAYS use 4 small pieces of rubber and filler top and bottom of the screen in to check the fit first.

I will try some heat first. Wifey's hairdryer?!!!!
Ah yes, thats genius! ( I however am not). I have excess rubber so if im stuck i will maybe take it out fully, chop up a few small pieces and have a go at that to position it a bit better.
Thanks very much.

Had a professional come and fit my screen in (toughened glass not laminated) and I didn't realise they would bend yikes I had my eyes shut for most of the time!
