I have a 1300 Vixen which iam fitting a 1700 Burton Crossflow engine into complete with side draft webbers. My questions are:

1. Should i fit a sierra diff for reliability? ratios? fitting kit?
2. Should i fit a five speed box? ratios? fitting kit?
3. If i keep my crossflow gearbox how do i convert to hydraulic?

Thanks

Recently got myself a 5 speed close ratio, to fit into my vixen S3 . 1st 3.36 2nd 1.81,3rd, 1.26, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.825 . Should mean motorways will zip by without knocking the stop on the rev counter .. Got it on ebay fully reconned at www.maintrainltd.com. looks great and quick service.
Course if you got loads a dosh - quaife would be the way to go.

Diff should be fine so long as its in good shape not clonking etc

5 speed converion is well worth the effort.

A hydraulic cluch conversion is possible by numerous ways.

I'm doing a hydraulic conversion at the moment on my S2.

Some people have made use of the Ford Focus Concentric cluch cylinder, some have made use of the Saab cylinder... or the real expensive route, get a different behousing (not worth it).

Probably a bit late - I did this conversion 15 years or so ago to my 1600M and Anglia 105e (5 speed conversion). On the 1600m - it was a nearly a straight swap. On the 105E that had a hydraulic clutch. What I did was re-jig the clutch arm and make a mounting to mount theoriginal hydraulic cylinder onto the cable bellhousing. Took an aternoon and cost nothing and worked perfectly.

Cheers,

N

PS absolutley worthwhile conversion
