Vixen S1 on e-bay at moment Antonio.
Taxed and MOT'd and shiny. A little bird however tells me that the body is better than the chassis. I am very interested to see how this one does.

The rocket is about to take off me thinks.

Neil.

Love it or hate it, I am a fairly significant user of Ebay. I am pretty amazed by their new policy of not identifying bidders ‘on some items’. A wholly inequitable policy IMHO, after all part of the process is knowing who else is bidding on any given item (what better way of determining the level of interest in an item than knowing what another bidder is prepared to offer ?). That Vixen is a case in point. If you are similarly concerned then I urge you to write to Ebay and tell them to get off their Association of Real ‘S’ Enthusiasts.

I know what you mean. Knowing the bidders always at least allowed you to look and determin what phantom bids were being placed.

E-bay has a lot to answer for. I was told recently that all home contents insurance policies have risen in premiums due to the increasing worth of general household shite which now has a greater intrinsic value entirely due to e-bay.

The Vixen is probably the next TVR to go through the roof in terms of values. I think this will get more and more prevalent with the future of the marque being in doubt.

The car on e-bay at the moment is nicely presented but still an original chassid car that has had no remedial chassis work carried out. Anyone that really knows the marque knows exactly what this means..........Buy the best restored or the worst basket as cheaply as you can find..

bet it still makes five and a half though!

Hello Toni

A very good mate of mine lives very close and knows the car. He also knows that its pretty body hides a re-chassis project.

Hello Neil,
my english is not so good.
Means "re-chassis project": the frame needs work or restore?

Its a 39 year old chassis under a shiny body. IE A chassis that needs restored / replaced.

Your English is a lot better than my Dutch Toni:smile:

The German S2 on www.mobile.de looks as if it has a new chassis to me. Look at the engine bay pictures.

I'm not sure I agree with Neil about the future price of Vixens, (unless they come to be seen as Griffens with the wrong engine ;-)). The thing that has driven the value of Griffith 200/400s and Granturas up so dramatically in recent years is their competitiveness in historic racing, but there is a big difference between a well sorted race prepared 1965 MkIII Grannie and a shiney but unrestored 1969 Vixen which will never run in FIA and is only really eligible for HSCC - look at the prices for pre 65 MGBs v post 65; you won't find post 65 cars at £25k+.

Most dealers will tell you that the market in 'cooking' sports cars has been very flat for the last two years. Having said that better examples of these cars (MGs, TRs, Healeys) have been pulled northwards through the rampant inflation with Astons, ACs, etc in the last couple of years.

Regards

Richard

Hello to all,
thank you for your Infos. I have driven Vixen for many years (see my homepage www.tvr.at) , but i have sold my car 2 month ago, because the car needed a frame-off and i have not the place to do this. This was the reason why i sold my car. Now i search a car which need no work on the frame. The rest on the car i can do.

Gruß
Toni

so does it look like the Tuscan would also raise in value? I love mine but rarely get to use it, despite having spent 6k on it in thelast year.

Well still waiting Toni. Its funny really,I get probably 200+ emails a day, many wanting me to have an 8" dick (but I am not going to cut 2" off for anyone), more offering medications to promote a permanent erection (which can be inconvenient if you want to turn over in the night ) but more annoyingly from people wanting to play email tennis. "please send photos of all your cars from every conceivable angle", "how original is it, does it still have the original engine oil? "which shade of black is the carpet?" it goes on and on and on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Ask them to phone (the classic way of communicating ) and they have forgotten how to use a phone. The interweb has so much to answer fo!!! sTeVeR
